Paris: The Best Hotels in the 16th Arrondissement
What are the best hotels in Paris’s 16th arrondissement? Our selection of luxury hotels, design gems, and cozy boutique hotels for your stay in this very chic arrondissement in the western part of the capital.

Not very touristy, yet so rich in character, Paris’s 16th arrondissement hides its charms from the uninitiated visitor. The Musée de l’Homme, the Palais Galliera, the Trocadéro, the Louis Vuitton Foundation, the Musée d’Art Moderne, the Palais de Tokyo… there’s no shortage of reasons to explore western Paris. Our selection of hotels in Paris’s 16th arrondissement.
1. Brach Paris | A luxury design hotel by Philippe Starck
Opened in 2018 in the heart of the 16th arrondissement, this sparkling glass cube—a former mail sorting center—is home to Brach Paris, one of the capital’s trendiest luxury hotels. The decor, designed by Philippe Starck, showcases all of the designer’s signature styles: mirrors covering the walls, shelves filled with a mix of objects, African totems, books… The 59 rooms and suites burst with multicultural influences from Africa, Asia, and South America. The furnishings blend coffee tables made from tree trunks, leather armchairs, and African stools… “It’s an unusual place that invites you to travel,” notes Philippe Starck. This vision is particularly evident in the vast restaurant, a true hub of activity that serves as a bar, pastry shop, and tea room all in one. The menu highlights flavors from the Mediterranean region, reimagined by Chef Adam Bentalha.

What sets it apart? The first-floor terrace stays true to the hotel’s warm spirit. The exotic furniture, deep armchairs, comfortable benches, and natural materials like oak, metal, leather, and marble create a simple yet welcoming atmosphere. Here, guests can enjoy the view of the nearby Parisian facades and the shade of large laurel trees from Asia. In the evening, string lights cast a soft glow, and fire pits—protected by awnings—provide the necessary warmth on the Paris rooftop. The menu focuses on the essentials, featuring carefully curated antipasti, Italian wines, and well-balanced cocktails created by Jérémy Bacquet.

Good to know? The Brach isn’t just an iconic luxury hotel; it’s also a popular fitness club, with an atmosphere reminiscent of 1930s boxing clubs. The class offerings are varied: Kalon Cardio Barre, boxing, TRX, Pilates, aqua-bike, aqua-aerobics, aqua-physical, circuit training… Each week, nearly a hundred sessions are offered, ranging from aquagym classes in the 22-meter-long pool—with its ochre-colored bottom streaked with white stripes—to cardio and strength training classes. Those who prefer personalized guidance can also work with carefully selected coaches specializing in wellness, boxing, fitness, or performance.

2. Hôtel Saint James Paris | A private mansion with a private garden
Set in a 19th-century mansion surrounded by a lovely park, the Saint James, a member of Relais & Châteaux, reopened its doors in September 2021 after being completely redesigned by Laura Gonzalez. She takes over from the eccentric interior designer Bambi Sloan as the designer of this hidden gem, which now features custom-made furniture and French craftsmanship in its 50 rooms and suites—spaces that feel like stepping into the apartment of a well-traveled collector: rare books, works of art, and treasures hunted down and gathered during a journey around the world… The sumptuous historic library of the former Thiers Foundation is the perfect spot to enjoy cocktails made with aromatic herbs. At the helm is Michelin-starred chef Grégory Garimbay, who masterfully delivers delicate signature cuisine inspired by the sea and locally sourced ingredients. At the Guerlain Spa, three new treatment rooms—including one for two—a hammam, a sauna, and an indoor pool round out the list of new additions.
What sets it apart? The idyllic atmosphere created by the garden, a former airfield from which hot-air balloons took flight in the 18th century.
Good to know? Lucky guests can experience the chef’s culinary world exclusively at dinner, as lunches are reserved for club members.

3. Shangri-La Paris | A luxury hotel with a view of the Eiffel Tower
It took four years of renovations to transform Roland Bonaparte’s former mansion, located across from the Guimet Museum, into a multifaceted luxury hotel. The interior design by Pierre-Yves Rochon features a palette of green, blue, and yellow throughout the 100 rooms, including 36 suites. The hotel’s highlights include the magnificent salons on the first floor, breathtaking views of the Seine from many of the rooms and suites, and two restaurants—including the Shang Palace, the brand’s signature restaurant worldwide and a Chinese restaurant, and Les Salons du Prince, the new restaurant inspired by the aristocratic salons of yesteryear—a nod to the legacy of Prince Roland Bonaparte.

What sets it apart? The Botaniste bar and its daring cocktails made with forgotten spirits such as génépi, absinthe, and Chartreuse. This cozy spot pays yet another tribute to its illustrious princely owner: he once possessed the world’s largest private herbarium.
Good to know? The ultra-luxurious spa at the Shangri-La Paris, Chi, Le Spa, features one of the most beautiful hotel pools in Paris, bathed in natural light thanks to huge floor-to-ceiling windows, and a fitness center with natural light.

4. Hôtel Raphaël | Unobstructed view of the Arc de Triomphe
Just a stone’s throw from the Arc de Triomphe, the Raphaël—named in honor of the Italian painter and architect and opened in 1925—is the epitome of the French art of living! It is part of the Les Hotels Baverez collection: three 5-star hotels managed by the same family for four generations, which likely explains the “intimate” atmosphere that characterizes the Raphaël—a romantic hotel and a favorite destination for movie stars for decades.
The 54 rooms and 29 suites feature authentic antique furniture, hand-carved wood paneling, and murals… The suites’ bathrooms are adorned with hand-painted ceramic tiles… The cozy and elegant atmosphere has inspired many filmmakers… and John Malkovich is a regular here. At the heart of the hotel, the dining room with its Louis XVI furniture is our favorite spot.

What sets it apart? The splendid hanging garden on the 7th floor with a 360° panoramic view of Paris. It features a champagne bar open from May through September and a restaurant.
Good to know? The English Bar, with its cozy decor—velvet banquettes, wood paneling, and soft lighting—is the perfect spot to relax in peace, sip the “Serge 78” cocktail created by Gainsbourg, and nibble on some refined snacks.

5. Plaza Tour Eiffel | A Quiet Boutique Hotel Near the Trocadéro
Just a few minutes’ walk from the Trocadéro, the Plaza Tour Eiffel stands out in this highly touristic neighborhood as a rare find: a cozy, 4-star boutique hotel nestled on a small residential street in the 16th arrondissement. Owned by the Marang family since 2005, the hotel is part of the Paristory Hôtels Collection, now managed by sisters Alexandra and Julie Marang, along with the Hôtel Prince de Conti, the Grand Powers, and the Grand Hôtel du Palais Royal.

The Plaza Tour Eiffel features 41 rooms and suites, with contemporary décor where golden yellow, sky blue, and wood reign supreme. But its most compelling feature is the view: on the fifth and sixth floors, several rooms have balconies offering a view of the Eiffel Tower. The Junior Suites, located on the top floor, include a living area with a sofa bed and can accommodate up to three people.

For a family stay in Paris, the hotel offers comfortable accommodations that are significantly less cramped than the Parisian average. The Deluxe Family Rooms measure up to 40 m² and accommodate four people; the Executive Rooms can accommodate three guests, and cribs are available in several room categories.
There is no restaurant, but there is a lounge bar open 24 hours a day and a breakfast buffet served from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. in a lounge with a spacious, open view to the outdoors, with room service available. The hotel also features a fitness center with treadmills, stationary bikes, elliptical trainers, weight training equipment, yoga props, and a personal trainer available upon request. For the spa, guests must leave the hotel. The Plaza Tour Eiffel has partnered with the Villa Thalgo & Spa, located on Avenue Raymond-Poincaré, where guests can take advantage of special offers. This is a hotel where you can explore Paris while enjoying a street that’s significantly quieter in the evening than the major thoroughfares nearby.

6. The Peninsula Paris | One of the capital’s newest luxury hotels
This vast building has served various purposes; it was once (!) a luxury hotel, the Majestic, which hosted all the “celebrities” of the era in the 1920s! It later housed a branch of the Ministry of War and then the Ministry of Foreign Affairs… Opened in 2014, The Peninsula Paris features 200 guest rooms and 93 suites, including the famous Rooftop Garden. Beige and gray tones, high ceilings, intricate moldings, marble bathrooms: all the hallmarks of Parisian luxury are on full display!
When it comes to dining, four restaurants vie for guests’ attention. The Cantonese restaurant Lili offers gourmet Chinese cuisine—among the most renowned in Paris—as well as a fine selection of dim sum. Finally, an 1,800 m² spa—run by Subtle Energies, Margy’s, and Biologique Recherche—and a 20-meter swimming pool round out the offerings at this luxury hotel, one of the most recent to open its doors in Paris.

What sets it apart? L’Oiseau Blanc, a two-star Michelin restaurant, where a replica of the biplane flown by two French aviation pioneers—Charles Nungesser and François Coli—hangs from the ceiling. Since the summer of 2020, the restaurant has been helmed by the excellent chef David Bizet (formerly of George V and Taillevent).
Good to know? It was at the Bar Kléber that Henry Kissinger and Le Duc Tho signed the peace accords in 1973 that ended the Vietnam War.

7. Molitor Paris Hotel – MGallery | An iconic swimming pool on the outskirts of Paris
An iconic Parisian landmark par excellence, the Molitor Pool was inaugurated in 1929 by John Weissmuller, the on-screen Tarzan and swimming champion. For sixty years, its two indoor and outdoor pools were a must-visit spot for sightseeing, swimming, and ice skating! Closed in 1989 and subsequently abandoned, it rose from the ashes in 2014 to become a 5-star hotel with 117 rooms and 7 suites—the flagship of the Accor Group’s MGallery collection.
The elegant decor, designed by Jean-Philippe Nuel, features a whirlwind of Art Deco-inspired elements. The best part? The rooms with views of the outdoor pool. One of the hotel’s highlights is the Clarins spa, spanning 1,300 m² with 13 treatment rooms (including two massive 50 m² suites), hammams, and saunas.
What sets it apart? The rooftop: a variety of cocktails and breathtaking views; in winter, the classic brasserie remains a sure bet.

Designed to be a new trendy hotspot in the neighborhood, the hotel is housed in a historic building that was once a power plant and later a parking garage. The property, featuring 123 rooms and suites—including a magnificent suite with a terrace overlooking the Eiffel Tower, the Trocadéro, and the Parisian rooftops—draws inspiration from its neighborhood for its interior design, evoking its industrial past, Art Deco, and the cultural institutions that surround it (most notably the Museum of Modern Art and the Palais de Tokyo). Beneath the glass roof on the ground floor, Chef Remy Ribeaucourt creates a variety of dishes—both savory and sweet—at the restaurant L’Esprit Nouveau, and, as the icing on the cake, the hotel boasts a green rooftop with a view of the Eiffel Tower. Designed by the firm A.h!, whose founder, Régis Boulard, actually lived here while studying at the École Camondo, the interior of this boutique hotel—comprising two modern buildings (with 17 and 25 rooms)—took five years to complete. Opened in September 2021, the hotel has the atmosphere of a family home in the countryside, with soothing rooms that open onto flower-filled gardens. Lacquered wood, light oak, caned headboards, and mosaics adorn the interiors, where color and botanical tapestries take center stage. The light fixtures come from the Gien factory, run by one of the project’s investors.
