The best hotels on the Côte d’Azur

What are the most beautiful hotels on the Côte d’Azur? From historic palaces and luxury hotels to stylish boutique hotels and secret 4 or 5 star addresses, we unveil our selection of the finest hotels on the Côte d’Azur.

The French coastline stretching from Hyères to Menton abounds in both renowned and lesser-known hotel addresses, and Yonder-Society reveals some of the finest. What are the most beautiful hotels on the Côte d’Azur? The answer is right here.

1. Cap d’Antibes Beach Hotel | A getaway right on the water

Located between Port du Crouton and Port Gallice, the Cap d’Antibes Beach Hotel stands with its sleek lines facing the Mediterranean. This 5-star boutique hotel on the French Riviera, featuring 35 rooms and suites and completely redesigned by architect Bernard Dubois, blends seamlessly into the coastal landscape: light-colored stucco, understated geometry, raw wood furnishings, and views opening out to the sea. The atmosphere evokes the modernist villas of Palm Springs, while the flower-lined walkways and stone floors conjure up an endless summer on the Riviera.

From the private terraces or the ground-level gardens, the sea comes into view behind the palm trees and umbrella pines. The interiors, deliberately minimalist and custom-made, invite relaxation: mahogany walk-in closets, pinkish marble in the bathrooms, furniture designed piece by piece. The Le Cap suite, suspended above the waves, offers an exceptional panorama, from the bathtub to the bed.

The private beach becomes a hedonistic playground: here, guests savor the sun-kissed dishes of BABA, the beach restaurant by Assaf Granit, in an atmosphere as light as a jazz tune. The rotunda bar, the tables by the water’s edge, the fragrant mezze, and the grilled dishes invite guests to share in the experience until sunset. Further up, under a pergola or in the exotic garden designed as a botanical world tour, guests can relax at the Holidermie spa or during a yoga class offered by Le Tigre Yoga.

For a gourmet dinner, head to Les Pêcheurs. From his dining room, which seems to float on the waves, Michelin-starred chef Nicolas Rondelli crafts a seafood-inspired menu guided by the catch of the day. Mediterranean squid and clams, red prawns, purple artichokes, or oysters from Tamaris Bay: the sea is the common thread of a simple yet refined cuisine, perfectly paired with a cellar of regional treasures.

5. The Maybourne Riviera | The ultra-luxury hotel just 10 minutes from Monaco

Perched on the heights of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, between Nice and Menton, The Maybourne Riviera stands out in the Côte d’Azur landscape thanks to its distinctive architecture and unique cliffside location. Owned by Irish billionaire Paddy McKillen and the Qatari royal family, the hotel overlooking the sea was decorated by designer Pierre Yovanovitch and BOS Studi, who highlighted the work of local artisans through glassware, ceramics, and custom-made furniture.

The building, designed by Jean Michel Wilmotte, blends seamlessly into the rocky landscape dotted with sky-piercing cypress trees, lemon groves, and olive groves. With 65 guest rooms (45 rooms and 24 suites), four restaurants—two of which are led by chefs Jean-Georges Vongerichten and Guillaume Boumati—two swimming pools, and a spa designed by Michelle Wu, the 5-star hotel offers a very high standard of luxury.

6. Château de Théoule | First Millésime House on the Riviera

This former soap factory, built in 1630 in Théoule-sur-Mer, is now a sumptuous establishment by the Millésime group (Château de Sacy in Champagne, La Palmeraie in La Baule and La Villa des Orangers in Marrakech). Nestling on the bay of Cannes, the Château de Théoule offers 44 keys, two restaurants, four bars, a spa, a rooftop and a private beach in the heart of the Massif de l'Esterel. The rooms and suites, divided between the Art Deco Villa, the historic Château and the Maison des Pêcheurs, all offer breathtaking water views. The Château houses spacious suites and rooms with evocative names linked to its history, while the Villa, renovated in Art Deco style, overlooks the outdoor swimming pool. The third building, the Maison des Pêcheurs, offers a more intimate experience with just three rooms. On the culinary side, the gourmet table Mareluna and the more casual restaurant La Plage Blanche -orchestrated respectively by chefs Nicolas Boucher and Francesco Fezza- invite guests on a journey along the Riviera, on the French side and all the way to Italy.

Owned by Four Seasons in 2015, this immense seven-hectare green setting at the tip of Cap-Ferrat has been welcoming jet-setters and royalty to its immaculate interiors designed by Pierre-Yves Rochon for decades.

8. La Réserve Ramatuelle | The contemporary palace in Saint-Tropez

Like other La Réserve hotels in Geneva, Paris and Zurich, Michel Reybier's La Réserve Ramatuelle is an exclusive setting, far removed from the glitz and electric ambience of Saint-Tropez hotels. Completely redesigned by architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte in the late 2000s, this venerable 1970s building boasts just nine rooms and nineteen suites furnished in Hans Wegner, Finn Juhl, Flexform and B&B Italia... and 14 chic villas (from 250 m²) for aesthetes in search of calm and discretion. As with (almost) all homes of this standing, La Voile (2-Michelin stars), a gourmet restaurant led by Éric Canino, Michel Guérard's former chef in Gréoux-les-Bains, is also on site.

9. Villa Sabbia Le Collectionist | La Croix-Valmer

Some people prefer to settle into a home all to themselves. These are splendid villas for rent that offer all the comforts (and services) of a hotel on the French Riviera, with the added luxury of privacy. Le Collectionist has made this its specialty, bringing together the most beautiful properties in Provence for exceptional stays. Some have caught our attention… and have been tested and approved by Yonder. Behind the palm trees and hedges of La Croix-Valmer, Villa Sabbia doesn’t play the flashy card, but rather that of solid refinement. And yet, it impresses with its 570 m². You have to step inside to understand what sets this ultra-luxury family home apart from other villas in the region: a genuine hammam, clad in dark mosaics with metallic sheen, preceded by a room whose walls are adorned with a monumental fresco. A place for total relaxation, designed as a mini-Oriental spa, as beautiful as it is functional. Another unique feature: the private movie theater, far from a simple home theater with a plush sofa. Here, large-screen screenings take place in a dedicated room with a pool table and bar, a perfect blend of a gentlemen’s lounge and a family hangout.

Villa Sabbia © Le Collectionist

When it comes to decor, it’s all in the details. Natural materials, exposed beams, shades of beige, weathered terracotta tiles, and custom-made furniture give the whole space a refined Mediterranean atmosphere, without ever veering into the cliché of a Provençal postcard. The kitchen, vast and bright, opens directly onto the terrace, and the bedrooms, spread across several levels, all offer direct access to the garden or a view of the pine-covered hills.

And if you feel like leaving this cocoon, the concierge service can organize a boat trip around the Îles d’Or, a private dinner at home orchestrated by a chef and a sommelier, or even an introduction to perfume-making, between two games of padel or laps in the 16-meter-long pool.

What sets it apart? A true sense of comfort (not just a collection of amenities), a wellness area, and that rare feeling of having found a place that manages to be both sumptuous and sincere.
