What to do in Saint-Tropez? Go out, of course!

Enjoy an aperitif at Tigrr, the best spot to watch the sunset

Tucked away within the walls of the legendary Hôtel Ermitage, Tigrr is undeniably the hottest spot of the summer in Saint-Tropez. Treat yourself to a signature cocktail (our favorite is the Wasabi Martini) paired with a platter of dim sum, sushi, and maki, all while admiring the view from the rooftop—the most spectacular in the Var town. The awesome crew—Minou, Rachel, Manoa… not to mention Léon the peacock, the stuffed mascot perched at the entrance—steal the show with wild performances in completely improvised costumes. The sexy crowd can’t get enough. Let’s also mention the live bands and electrifying DJ sets. We’ll say it again: the best party spot uptown—take it from us, locals.

Gaïo: The Rebirth of a Legend

Once the temple of Saint-Tropez nightlife in the ’60s, the legendary Papagayo has given way to Gaïo, the new sanctuary for Var night owls. Transformed into a trendy restaurant-club-lounge, the venue invites guests to discover Peruvian-Japanese fusion cuisine in an intimate and warm setting, which transforms into a bustling dance floor once night falls.

What to Do in Saint-Tropez? The Best Places to Party

Turn up the heat at Nikki Beach, the white legend of Saint-Tropez

If there’s one place that embodies the festive spirit of Saint-Tropez, it’s this one. Nikki Beach, a pioneer of laid-back luxury, has been blending sun-kissed hedonism with an iconic aesthetic for over twenty years. Its DNA? Boho-glam, festive, and decidedly premium. Born from the vision of Jack Penrod—a former McDonald’s cook turned visionary of beach culture—Nikki Beach opened in Pampelonne in 2002, on what was then nothing more than a vacant lot. It took real imagination.

Nikki Beach Saint Tropez

Today, Jack Penrod has stepped down, but Nikki Beach remains a global benchmark from Monte Carlo to Saint Barth, including stops in Dubai, Ibiza, Miami, and even Cannes with its brand-new, wildly successful concept, Lucia. The group has expanded—hotels, restaurants, pop-ups—without ever losing the family spirit of its early days or the loyalty of its teams, a rarity in the party scene. This is undoubtedly the secret to Nikki Beach’s longevity: behind the glamorous image of shows and champagne lies a genuine team culture. Many servers have been with the company for years, and some now hold key positions in marketing or management.

New Look, Same Vibe
In 2024, the Saint-Tropez hotspot underwent a major makeover, led by in-house architect Rémi Viale. Just 150 meters from the sea, beneath the venerable pine trees, the signature Nikki elements are all there: a shaded open-air restaurant, logoed canvas director’s chairs, light-wood tables, woven lanterns, and those stunning beaded chandeliers—which haven’t budged in years. And still that immaculate, dazzling white of the sunbeds, which has an irresistible knack for flattering tanned skin. In the background, the new bar stocks premium tequilas, and the DJ is now strategically positioned between the restaurant and the pool.

Nikki Beach Saint Tropez

An ultra-sexy menu, an electrifying atmosphere
At Nikki Beach, it’s not just about partying—it’s also about dining, and dining divinely well. Here, there’s no slapdash cooking for guests in a hurry to hit the dance floor: the food is as sophisticated as the venue itself. Everything is fresh, delicious, and ultra-creative. The menu, created by executive chef Alessandro Pizza—a mainstay of the venue—features ultra-sexy dishes: sea bass ceviche with mezcal, tuna with yuzu and cilantro, truffle pinsa, spaghetti gamberetti… There’s something for every taste and craving, and the portions are anything but skimpy.

And this season, special guest Vincent Broggi—the 2024 World Sushi Champion—is creating a few exclusive rolls. Special mention goes to the Golden Truffle Fries: a visual and taste sensation featuring tempura shrimp, flambéed salmon, truffle fries, and gold flakes. Utterly glamorous and completely addictive. Worthy of the best sushi in Paris.

Champagne and Sunset
Around 3 p.m., the energy level kicks up a notch: the Champagne Shows—the venue’s true signature—take center stage. Costumes, sequins, and performers take over the pool area—it’s at once exuberant and chic, dazzling and joyful. And you truly get a sense of what partying in Saint-Tropez is all about.

Nikki Beach Saint Tropez

The atmosphere lingers until sunset. Then it’s time to leave the beach club. But in Saint-Tropez, the party never stops—it just changes locations. After the beach, it’s off to festive dinners—at Salama, La Sauvageonne, or other trendy spots—before heading out to dance the night away.

Enjoy great music on Pampelonne’s most beautiful beach

From Tahiti Beach—the oldest—to the wild Escalet, via Les Canoubiers and La Ponche, Saint-Tropez is brimming with perfect beaches. Long before the stars arrived, the fairies had already shaped its destiny: the shoreline has a Caribbean feel, with fine white sand and crystal-clear waters. As for the light, it’s exceptional. The reason? Its location on a peninsula: the landscapes are bathed in a perpetually photogenic golden glow.

So why choose Indie Beach when looking for things to do in Saint-Tropez? As part of the Indie Group (Café de l’Ormeau, Cherry, La Sauvageonne…), Tobias Chaix, Vincent Luftman, and Raphaël Blanc—all locals—embody a new vision of hospitality that helps keep the destination at the top of its game. Perched on the dune, Indie Beach successfully strikes a balance between being trendy and laid-back. The wildly boho decor blends driftwood, bamboo, and wicker pendants that sway in the breeze. It’s beautiful. But that’s not all. Behind the aesthetics lies exceptional sound quality. The spot is equipped with a state-of-the-art sound system, books the best DJs, and has even created its own house music label. As for the menu, you can sample small seaside dishes bursting with flavor: gambero rosso tartare, sea bass ceviche, king crab… It’s aromatic, perfect for lunch, ultra-fresh, and… very expensive. But what can you expect—this is Saint-Tropez…

We love: once again, for the second year in a row, the trendy designer Simon Porte Jacquemus has given the deck chairs and umbrellas a makeover with his iconic yellow bayadère print, while also setting up a pop-up shop featuring his summer essentials. Or, in other words, how to fall for a Bambino right by the water.

Admire the sunset from a new, ultra-private rooftop

Three years of construction for a result worthy of the legend. Perched at the very top of the Byblos, this intimate rooftop—with room for only about twenty people—was built from scratch, suspended above the existing bar and accessible by reservation only. An extremely exclusive space, much like the menu, which sources rare elixirs and connoisseur-favorite bottles: Fine wines from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, vintage Macallan whiskies, and hard-to-find Japanese spirits: Hibiki 30-Year-Old (only six bottles in France) and Yamazaki 25-Year-Old.

All orders are elegantly accompanied: Sardinian bread, poivronade, house-made pickles, Piedmont hazelnuts, and a selection of high-end snacks round out the experience. The venue itself is a precious gem, with mosaic floors, fine furnishings, and that sublime midnight-blue trunk-style bar, custom-crafted by Pinel & Pinel. Below, the pool. Across the way, the sunset over the rooftops. Magical.

What to See and Do in Saint-Tropez? The Editorial Team’s Top Picks

Treat yourself to a La Mer facial

What can you do in Saint-Tropez to unwind? Head to the spa at the La Ponche hotel, which is launching a new collaboration with the cosmetics brand La Mer for summer 2024. On the menu: three treatments developed exclusively for the spa. You’ll have the choice between a “soothing and regenerating” treatment to prepare your skin for the sun and enhance your tan, the “Saint-Tropez Lift By La Mer,” focused on anti-aging, and the “energizing detox” treatment designed to restore your complexion’s radiance. We’re drawn to the first option, which is extremely relaxing—both during the application of the products with their airy textures and throughout the treatment itself. Even the usually very firm Jacquet pinches are performed here with the utmost delicacy, the therapist’s hands gently brushing the skin like waves lapping onto the beaches of Saint-Tropez.

Pick up a treat at Cédric Grolet

His arrival in the Var town—where Cyril Lignac is already well-established—caused quite a stir. It must be said that the sunflower-adorned façade of his shop on Rue des Feniers certainly doesn’t go unnoticed. For this collaboration with the Airelles group, the pastry chef has opted for a “click-and-collect” service featuring his signature creations: trompe-l’œil fruit, pastries, giant cookies… and other treats inspired by Provence, such as the Saint-Tropez éclair and the calisson.

Treat yourself to a designer T-shirt

Inspired by 1970s Saint-Tropez, Bleu Mon Jules—founded by Jules Paturle—is the go-to brand for those seeking pieces with real character. The collection features cotton T-shirts, sweatshirts, and hand-painted shirts available in white or the brand’s iconic Klein blue. These stylish pieces embody the free-spirited and laid-back elegance of the Riviera.

Enjoy a granita at Sénéquier

It’s impossible to imagine a trip to Saint-Tropez without stopping by Sénéquier! Located on the harbor of this Var town since 1930, the café’s bright red facade—highly Instagrammable—continues to attract tourists from around the world. Here, you can enjoy a chocolate or coffee granita—the house specialty—while watching the ballet of yachts moored just a few meters away and the comings and goings of tourists (and sometimes celebrities).

Hunting for Designer Pieces at Atelier 55

With locations in Paris, Megève, and Saint-Tropez, the Atelier 55 galleries have established themselves as highly coveted destinations for collectors of designer furniture. There you’ll find a eclectic mix of pieces by Willy Rizzo, Michel Cadestin, Guillerme and Chambron, Charles and Ray Eames, and Hans Wegner, as well as works by contemporary artists, photographers, and sculptors.

Savor a Tarte Tropézienne

Head to Place des Lices to enjoy—at home—the citadel’s signature pastry. Created in the 1950s by pastry chef Alexandre Micka and named as such at the suggestion of Brigitte Bardot, the Tarte Tropézienne continues to be a hit with sweet tooths around the world. And while it’s now available in fruit and chocolate versions, the recipe remains true to the original (which is still jealously guarded as a secret).

Hike up to the Sainte-Anne Chapel, where Mick Jagger got married

Built in the 17th century, this small Provençal chapel—where Mick Jagger married Bianca in 1971—is a hidden gem that opens its doors to the public only a few days a year, during the Bravades festival in May. Perched on a hill dotted with pine and cypress trees, it’s a peaceful and pleasant place to visit in Saint-Tropez, offering a superb panoramic view of the bay and Pampelonne Cove.

Located between Saint-Tropez and Sainte-Maxime, the small village of Cogolin stands out as a charming retreat away from the hustle and bustle of Saint-Tropez. Where to Stay in Saint-Tropez?

Lou Pinet: Saint-Tropez’s Chic and Charming Gem

Far from the boisterous hustle and bustle that animates the peninsula, the five-star hotel cultivates the warm atmosphere of a family home and revives the spirit of Saint-Tropez of yesteryear. “At Lou Pinet, we want every guest to feel at home, with personalized attention at every stage of their stay”, says Luca Mendola, general manager.

Part of the Maisons Pariente collection (Hôtel Crillon le Brave in Provence, Le Coucou in Méribel), the hotel features elegant décor designed by interior architect Charles Zana. The result? Surrounding the two protected umbrella pines (which give the hotel its name) are four country estates housing 34 rooms and two suites, ranging from 50 to 80 m² for the most spacious, bathed in the warm hues of southern light, enhanced by furniture made of wood, natural stone, or wrought iron, and light-colored fabrics that create a sunny atmosphere. Here and there, cushions, headboards, terracotta vases, and ceramic lamps are adorned with bright colors and artistic patterns.

Outside, the spacious pool lined with lounge chairs invites you to relax while listening to the song of the cicadas and enjoying the scents of jasmine and aromatic herbs. You’ll enjoy absolute tranquility, as the property is located in a tree-lined residential area, surrounded by private homes. At the end of the day, you can escape the last rays of the sun under the wooden pergola of the outdoor bar, where you can sip a house cocktail while the garden lights up with lanterns and string lights. Magical.

New this year: in addition to its iconic Beef Bar by Riccardo Giraudi, the hotel in Saint-Tropez is opening La Terrasse, a restaurant serving lunch with summer cuisine and a cooking show highlighting grilled dishes and Mediterranean flavors. A package including lunch and access to the pool from 12:00 PM to 7:30 PM is also available to a select few non-hotel guests.

The highlight of the Lou Pinet experience? A “secret” spa accessed by descending a few steps into a cave hidden at the far end of the garden. On the agenda: a hammam, a fitness room, and treatments using products from the American green brand Tata Harper.

Located just a stone’s throw from Place des Lices and ten minutes from Tahiti Beach, the Lou Pinet stands out as a rejuvenating retreat, distinguished by its idyllic setting and its simple, authentic luxury. One of our favorite hotels in Saint-Tropez.

Where to Eat in Saint-Tropez?

Il Giardino, the new Italian restaurant at Byblos

Alain Ducasse’s Cuccina has closed its doors, replaced by Zuma, located next to the Caves du Roy. Byblos, part of the exclusive trio of luxury hotels in Saint-Tropez alongside La Messardière and Le Cheval Blanc, took this opportunity to bring its Italian restaurant, , back to a prime location, replacing the Mediterranean restaurant Arcadia. New restaurant, new decor: everything has been redesigned. The space has been expanded to now seat 80 guests (up from 35 previously), featuring a veranda that opens onto the pool, a spectacular ceiling adorned with flowers, and furnishings that embody the essence of Italian chic. In the evening, soft lighting, a gentle ambiance, ochre tones, and warm hues recreate the atmosphere of a charming little village. Still at the helm, Lombard chef Nicolas Canucci crafts a well-executed menu that blends land and sea, featuring carefully sourced ingredients, in a 100% Italian style: per cominciare with a selection of appetizers to nibble on while sipping a cocktail, followed by antipasti, primi, and secondi… The carpaccio made with beef aged for 28 days, topped with truffle shavings and aged Parmesan, is a must-try. Everything is served on Vallauris tableware designed by Agnès Sandhal, which pays homage to the restaurant’s signature style. Los Gropinos, a limoncello ice cream inspired by a colonel, prepared fresh right before your eyes on a vintage cart, proves to be the perfect, refreshing finale to this delightful meal.

Cybele: Mathieu Pacaud Takes Over Ramatuelle

The nudists have gone back to wearing clothes. In Ramatuelle, on Chemin des Tamaris, in place of the Neptune—once a mecca for naturism in Saint-Tropez—stands Cybele, the Kube Hotel’s beach, named after a goddess of nature. The ultra-fresh, spring-like decor was entrusted to Cordelia de Castellane, artistic director of Dior Maison: celadon green, woven rattan, floral towels, and barbotine earthenware. A light breeze, the scent of immortelle in the air, and the rare privilege of seeing the sea from your table (most other beach restaurants don’t offer this direct view).

Plage Cybèle saint-tropez

The same spirit of freshness is evident on the plate. Wild-caught fish served as carpaccio or ceviche, eggplant caviar, perfectly ripe Var tomatoes, flame-grilled dishes… Everything is made in-house. The focaccia, served warm with a bright green olive oil, sets the tone: it’s simple and made with carefully sourced ingredients. Exactly what you want to eat in the summer, right by the beach.

Pair it with a Pampelonne rosé, whose vineyards are right next door. Special mention goes to the ultra-indulgent desserts, including the already iconic chocolate mousse and a pavlova topped with firm, creamy whipped cream that holds its own against Sénéquier’s. After the feast, we head out to flop down (sorry, lie down gracefully—this is Saint-Tropez, after all) on the XXL daybeds, facing the waters of Pampelonne—the most turquoise along the entire coastline, until proven otherwise.

Jardin Tropezina, a bucolic seaside retreat

A favorite spot is the waterfront dining area at Château de La Messardière, featuring a menu crafted by Jean-François Piège. The bucolic setting is nestled in a chic garden with ivy-covered trellises, wrought-iron tables, and elegant striped cushions. Here, you’ll savor Mediterranean classics reimagined by the maestro, including rock octopus marinated in olive oil, sumac, and chickpeas, or locally sourced John Dory fillets grilled on the barbecue, served with tabbouleh and candied lemon. Prepared like a pepper steak, the bluefin tuna is a delightful surprise. Everything is exceptionally good, the service is efficient, and you can even do some shopping in the small boutique offering a highly desirable selection.

Cherry, Italian-New York cuisine on the harbor

Until now, Saint-Tropez lacked an Italian-New York-style restaurant worthy of the name. That gap has been filled by this creation from Indie Group. Nestled at the end of the harbor, the spot is incredible. Perched atop a listed medieval tower, a circular, glass-enclosed dining room overlooks the pier. In the evening, you can witness breathtaking sunsets. The menu features a parade of succulent pasta dishes: tagliatelle with veal ragù, cacio e pepe with lemon, or with a spicy tomato and vodka sauce—the house specialty. The atmosphere is cozy, and the curated playlist spins R&B and jazz classics.

The Beefbar, Saint-Tropez’s premier steakhouse

Already established in Paris, Dubai, Mexico City, and Mykonos, Riccardo Giraudi chose the Lou Pinet as the location for the Saint-Tropez branch of his Beefbar. A true mecca for meat lovers, the restaurant prides itself on serving—in style—some of the finest cuts of meat in the world. Highlights of the menu include Kobe beef served in a variety of ways: as gyoza accompanied by a vinegar-based sauce spiced with a hint of jalapeño, as tataki with a twist of yuzu lemon ponzu sauce, in a bao bun delicately smoked with jasmine tea, or even as “jamon”—a world-exclusive creation that meat lovers won’t want to miss.

While Black Angus beef and Wagyu also share the spotlight, the menu also features a beautiful sea bream with ginger and Eastern flavors, tuna tartare with yuzu-scented mayonnaise, and a generous plate of linguine with sautéed lobster, served with a rich tomato-based sauce. A delightful exotic getaway—recently awarded a Michelin Plate—where you can savor the finest meats the region has to offer while enjoying the intimate setting of the Lou Pinet.
