The most beautiful hotels in Ile de France, for luxury and charm

These hotels in Ile-de-France will enable you to get away from it all without leaving the region, and rediscover the inner and outer suburbs as a destination in its own right, rich in precious interludes to be savored over a weekend.

Beyond the hustle and bustle of Paris, there’s much more to Île-de-France than its flamboyant capital. It’s an art of living made up of bucolic breaks, exceptional heritage and places steeped in history. In the four corners of the region, singular hotels cultivate this taste for elegance, whether they be ancient seigniorial residences transformed into hushed retreats, country estates revisited with modernity or hotel gems where gastronomy and well-being are invited at every moment.

Château de Villiers-le-Mahieu

1. Château de Villiers-le-Mahieu, the art of feeling at home at the castle

As soon as you enter the gates of the estate, the impression is immediate: here, you breathe, you slow down, you reconnect. Surrounded by moats and century-old trees, all set in a seventeen-hectare wooded park, Château de Villiers-le-Mahieu, a former 13th-century fortified castle, has nothing to do with a staid Ile-de-France luxury hotel. It's a country house where you can come as a tribe, with friends or as a couple, to savor the essentials, in a relaxed setting that invites you to let go of city pressures. You can make yourself a coffee as if you were at home, help yourself to the buffet and toast the day at the bar as if you already knew everyone. That's the advantage of the all-inclusive formula offered by the hotel, which has won over its guests: from the fresh juice in the morning to the last glass of wine, not forgetting the snack for the little ones (and even the grown-ups), everything is thought out so that you can enjoy yourself without counting the cost.

The 98 rooms are spread between the Château, the Ferme, the Grange and the Cottage, some with the charm of yesteryear, others more contemporary and streamlined, but always comfortable and welcoming. Perfect for waking up to birdsong. Good to know, it's also possible to privatize some of the estate's outbuildings, for seminars less than 2 hours from Paris or private events.

As you can see, luxury here is not ostentatious, but lies more in freedom and choice, with the estate offering a host of ways to relax or have fun: pedal through the park, take the kids on a treasure hunt, treat yourself to a massage in the light-flooded spa or a splash in one of the two pools... Or simply do nothing but read by the moat. Younger guests can marvel at the Kids Club, while parents can take a break for a treatment, a siesta or a romantic drink.

What makes the difference? Over convivial meals, summer barbecues or Sunday brunches, the hôtel-château is like a bubble out of time, a place where you can linger and share, where you feel at home but with the refinement of hotel service. For a weekend close to Paris, you'll find a simple, sincere luxury: that of slowing down, sharing and savoring the present moment, far from the hustle and bustle of Paris, but never too far from it.

2. La Folie Barbizon, between forest and inspiration

On the edge of the mythical forest of Fontainebleau, La Folie Barbizon is like a timeless escape, a hotel in Ile-de-France where the bohemian spirit of the painters who came here in search of light in the 19th-century still breathes. You come here first to breathe the air of the undergrowth, venture out on the paths or climb the rocks, and then you get caught up in this inhabited place, designed as much as a creative laboratory as a hotel.

Entirely reinvented by a constellation of artists and designers, each room becomes a work of art in itself: frescoed murals, stained-glass windows, sculpted headboards... Nothing is standardized, and freedom and imagination are given free rein. To sleep here is to immerse yourself in a singular universe. The place also feeds off the Greenline Foundation, which links art and ecology through exhibitions, residencies and workshops, inviting everyone to think differently about the world around them.

Conviviality is to be found around the table: the chef prepares heartfelt, locavore and generous cuisine, inspired by the land and the seasons. Here, meals are shared, stretched out and brought together. And dinner takes on the air of live theater.

3. Les Étangs de Corot, a bucolic interlude on the outskirts of Paris

In the inner suburbs of Paris, in Ville-d'Avray to be precise, Les Étangs de Corot offers the delightful illusion of being elsewhere. This Relais & Châteaux refuge blossoms in a natural setting that inspired Camille Corot and so many other Impressionist artists who came to capture the light of the ponds. Today, you can still feel this poetry in the atmosphere, through the cascading gardens, the terraces that open onto the water, and the rooms where Pierre Frey wallpapers, life-size canvases and antique furniture cohabit. Some with sloping ceilings, others with terraces, they cultivate an intimate atmosphere ideal for a romantic weekend or a family getaway.

The journey continues at the table, with a double culinary signature. On one side, Le Corot, a Michelin-starred gourmet restaurant, where chef Rémi Chambard sublimates the surrounding nature into a refined, seasonal and poetic cuisine. On the other, Le Café des Artistes, a convivial bistro where you can enjoy a country-style lunch, before prolonging the day at Les Paillotes, a retro guinguette which, in fine weather, revives the festive spirit of yesteryear by the water's edge.

And let's not forget the Spa, Les Bains de Corot. Inspired by plants and the sea, thanks to Kos Paris and Phytomer treatments, it features swimming pools, a steam room, a sauna and private outdoor baths (les Bulles) where you can splash around with a flute of champagne in hand, overlooking the ponds.

4. Château de la Bûcherie, a life-size country tale

Located in the Val d'Oise, just half an hour from bucolic Giverny, the Château de la Bûcherie is the ideal refuge for a getaway from the city in just two minutes. A former 19th-century mansion set in the heart of the Vexin region, this luxury hotel in the Ile-de-France plays the country charm card with just the right amount of elegance. The 65-hectare park, designed by the landscape architect of the Bois de Boulogne, is hard to resist, with its meadows, undergrowth and impromptu waterfalls. At the bend in the path, you come face to face with the oldest tree on the estate: a venerable Chinese plane tree planted under Louis XIV, which has looked down on visitors for 500 years.

In terms of accommodation, each of the 33 keys, divided into five categories, cultivates a singular spirit, blending antique parquet flooring, antique furniture and modern comfort, and will adapt to any type of stay, whether intimate or with the family. And for the largest of tribes, we recommend the independent 3-bedroom gîte "Le Moulin".

As for the Cambrousse restaurant, it's all about joyful, plant-based cuisine, nourished by the permaculture vegetable garden and neighboring producers. In fine weather, the dishes literally breathe garden air. To prolong this interlude, head for the Boudoir, a cocoon of well-being in the former stables, where Biologique Recherche treatments and customized massages are enjoyed like timeless bubbles.

What makes the difference? You come here for a real break, to walk in a park steeped in history, toast in the château's vaulted cellar, or simply let yourself be lulled by the singular atmosphere, a blend of unspoilt nature, living heritage and sincere hospitality.

5. Auberge du Jeu de Paume, a royal interlude in Chantilly

Even though we're technically in the Oise department, Chantilly is well worth a visit. The town alone embodies French refinement: a château steeped in history, gardens designed by Le Nôtre, the Grandes Écuries and the Musée Condé, renowned for housing the second-largest collection of paintings after the Louvre. In this prestigious setting, the Auberge du Jeu de Paume deploys its art of entertaining with the grace of the great houses. A Relais & Châteaux member, the hotel next door to the Ile-de-France is an address where luxury and heritage meet in perfect harmony.

The 92 rooms and suites cultivate a classical charm that evokes the splendor of yesteryear without ever yielding to pastiche. Toiles de Jouy, Italian marble and refined woodwork blend with modern comforts to create an atmosphere that is both warm and timeless. The finest suites open onto the gardens and the Fontaine de Beauvais, offering perspectives worthy of a royal setting.

La Table du Connétable, a gourmet restaurant, sublimates local produce in a creative and delicate cuisine, while Le Jardin d'Hiver offers a more relaxed version, ideal after a stroll around the estate. The Spa Valmont completes this luxury interlude with its 600 m² dedicated to well-being: swimming pool, hammam, sauna and exceptional rituals orchestrated by the prestigious Swiss house.
