Monsieur George Hotel takes on male beauty
In Paris’s Golden Triangle, the spa at the Monsieur George hotel unveils a range of no-frills, technical treatments for men. We tested it.

For men who thought pampering was limited to a quick shower and a comb-over, the era of the men’s spa may be upon them. It’s 5pm in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, and I’m about to do what few men dare (or admit to): go for a spa treatment. But not just any spa. The spa by Lymfea at the Monsieur George hotel, a stone’s throw from the Champs-Élysées, promises an experience designed exclusively for men.
" At the Monsieur George hotel, where the clientele is very masculine, the treatments were a natural fit ," says Sarah-Line Attlan, founder of Nymphea, launched four years ago. This entrepreneur, who grew up in Martinique before arriving in mainland France 8 years ago, has made personalization her signature: each Nymphea spa has a unique menu adapted to its location. " Monsieur George's vaulted space immediately inspired a very masculine soul in me," she explains. The result: two intimate cabins offering neither manicures nor rose masks, but protocols calibrated for thick skin, tense jaws and shoulders knotted by sport (or stress). Scens' Spanish products (organic and vegan), adapted to men's needs, have been selected for their effectiveness: mint cleansing gel, intensive moisturizing serum and purifying beard spray.

The treatment? High-tech and targeted gestures
Under the expert hands of Annaelle, a practitioner with five years' experience, we discover the signature Tonic beard and face treatment. First surprise: intensity. Double cleansing is followed by a fruit acid peel (glycolic, salicylic, mandelic) to refine skin texture. No soft cotton, but an ultrasonic spatula called Clean, Infuse, Lift that imperceptibly vibrates to penetrate active ingredients and stimulate cell renewal.

" The movements are adapted to male tensions," explains Sarah-Line. In other words, we work on the often-locked jaw, and relax the thorax and arms of athletic men. The facial massage sculpts contours with firm pressure, a far cry from the gentle stroking we too often associate with beauty treatments. The Tonic Barbe treatment is well worth the detour, even if, as Sarah-Line smiles, "you don't have to have a beard to do it . Castor oil fortifies beard hair and eyebrows, while a blend of essential oils with woody and fruity notes offers an olfactory experience. It's technical, effective and, above all, you don't get the impression that you've done something "girly".

A final surprise at the end of the treatment: a card draw. " My mother draws the cards," confides Sarah-Line. " After a massage, you're connected to your emotions and the cards guide you better. This holistic dimension may come as a surprise in a men's spa, but it's in line with Nymphea's philosophy: well-being isn't just about the skin. In addition to treatments, the Paris hotel spa offers a sauna, a hammam and an intimate gym. And don't be jealous: the spa also offers treatments for women.
Verdict: an hour and a half later, you emerge with visibly more toned and glowing skin, unblocked shoulders and... a prediction from the cards to " open yourself up to receive ". Targeted self-care has never been so accessible.
