The best hotels with swimming pool in Provence

Peace, cicadas and cool shade: our selection of the five most beautiful Provencal hotels with dream pools.

With its vibrant, immortalized panoramas, sun-drenched cuisine and intimate retreats, Provence plays the role of dolce vita magician like no other region in France. And of course, in such a setting, bathing is a must: preferably in the crystal-clear waters of a pool superbly integrated into the landscape.

1. Domaine de Fontenille, sweet Provence and nature's soul

This 4-star hotel in Provence in the charming village of Lauris, in the heart of the Luberon Regional Nature Park, is a delicious concentrate of Provence! The very first emblematic address in the Fontenille Collection, the estate is housed in an ancient bastide dating from the XVIIᵉ and XVIIIᵉ centuries, mentioned in land registers as early as 1638, and entirely restored in 2016 to become this Relais & Châteaux establishment nestled in the midst of a remarkable park, between hundred-year-old cedars, plane trees, olive trees and organically-certified vines: this splendid plant setting is the true signature of the place!

The interiors respond to this exterior beauty with a controlled gentleness. With just 25 rooms, the hotel retains a boutique feel, perfect for savoring Provence in total intimacy. All boast spaciousness and a warm, sober style - light wood, soft linen and Provencal touches - that soothes and lets the light of the Luberon express itself fully.

The Provence restaurant La Cuisine d'Amélie offers contemporary cuisine, drawing on the generosity of the local terroir and the estate's extensive vegetable garden! Because Domaine de Fontenille is not just a peaceful luxury hotel: it's also a 40-hectare vineyard producing organic wines with a cellar, a permaculture vegetable garden that can be visited thanks to an immersive trail designed to raise visitors' awareness of sustainable practices, and a strong commitment to sustainable, environmentally-friendly tourism (the hotel has the Clef Verte label).

Enjoy the lovely swimming pool surrounded by nature, stroll through the vineyards, picnic in the wooded park and even treat yourself to a Susanne Kaufmann signature treatment right in your room. The address exudes the sweetness of southern living: it's a charming and sensitive hotel, where time lasts longer.

And the pool? A long, lagoon-blue pool in natural stone, bordered by grasses and romantic groves, perfect for swimming or relaxing to the rhythm of the cicadas: there's nothing to see here! Open from April to October, with lounger service in high season (freshly squeezed juices, signature cocktails, Domaine de Fontenille wines, fresh salads, nibbles).

2. La Bastide de Marie, living Provence in an intimate family home

In Ménerbes, a remarkable perched village in the Luberon, La Bastide de Marie (Maisons et Hôtels Sibuet) cultivates a rare charm and very romantic luxury. This eighteenth-century bastide, set in the heart of a 26-hectare winegrowing estate in Provence, has been transformed by the Sibuet group into a hotel: you enter here as if in a family home you've always wanted to know.

The format is confidential: just 14 rooms and suites, plus three private villas with swimming pools, set in a rare landscape - cypress trees, umbrella pines and rows of vines as far as the eye can see. Inside, the house loses none of its cachet: blond stone, patinated furniture and an enveloping sense of detail... The rooms are tastefully decorated, blending chic and rustic, carefully sourced antiques and designer touches (with sinks signed by Philippe Starck in the bathrooms) in a finely crafted, superbly warm "Provencal family home" spirit.

La Bastide is also part of the Domaine de Marie, a winegrowing and agricultural estate with vineyards, vegetable garden, beehives, olive trees and aromatic herbs. The restaurant at La Bastide does its utmost to showcase this terroir by offering seasonal cuisine with local influences: Provencal haute gastronomy incarnate.

Dine under the trellis overlooking the vines, indulge in a mountain herbal treatment at the Pure Altitude Spa, enjoy an aperitif in front of the setting sun, and conversations flow naturally... La Bastide de Marie combines the comfort of a luxury hotel with the charm of an intimate, secret home. A stay here feels like an endless summer!

And the pool? There's not one, but two outdoor pools, one of them heated. Set in stone and surrounded by vegetation, they're as bucolic and intimate as you could wish.

3. Villa Gallici, a little Italian paradise in the city

A Relais & Châteaux member, this Aix-en-Provence hotel, located in one of its most sought-after districts, gives the impression of having crossed the Alps to reach a fantasized Tuscany.

With its air of an Italian villa, Villa Gallici, set in an 18th-century bastide, assumes an almost theatrical refinement, wildly disorienting: outside, formal gardens, colonnades and avenues of perfectly trimmed cypress trees set the tone. Inside, it's baroque effulgence : silky drapes, four-poster beds, antique furniture and rococo treasures, like so many nods to the aristocratic lifestyle of yesteryear.

Yet the place is never intimidating: it charms, it seduces, it envelops. The art of "grand chic" that doesn't take itself too seriously!

In the shade of the plane trees, savor the Provencal cuisine of chef Christophe Gavot. And to extend this exclusive experience, the 5-star hotel in Provence boasts a spa by Sothys, as well as two splendid private villas: the Cézanne, with its Jacuzzi, and the Picasso, with its luxury swimming pool. A baroque paradise in the heart of the city, where you're sure to get away from it all.

And the pool? An elegant Roman-style pool, surrounded by cypress trees and statues: deliberately opulent, very Mediterranean dolce vita . A rarity in the city.

4. La Bastide de Gordes, a suspended palace

In the spectacular register, it's hard to beat this spa hotel in the Luberon. Clinging to the village ramparts, this palace from the Airelles collection dominates the landscape in a vertiginous setting.

Inside the superbly preserved building, the décor, imagined by interior designer Christophe Tollemer, is sumptuous: historic lounges, tiered terraces, hanging gardens, 40 cosy rooms and everywhere, light glides over the stones. The address brilliantly combines great refinement, generous service and timeless aesthetics. It's easy to see why it's become an emblem of Provencal luxury.

This hotel in Provence is also a Mecca for Provencal gastronomy. There are no less than six restaurants, from friendly trattorias to bistronomic offerings. La Table de la Bastide serves delicate cuisine overlooking the valley, while gourmets will find themselves at Clover Gordes, the tasty imprint of chef Jean-François Piège. And for lovers of high-end meats and grills, the Beef Bar will open its doors in summer 2026. Beyond the glitz, La Bastide de Gordes is a place charged with emotion and a poetic aura. The vast, ever-changing panorama leaves a lasting impression: you feel like you're in the middle of an immortal painting.

And the swimming pool? An unmissable green and blue setting on a balcony overlooking the valley: quite simply one of the most impressive in Provence, if not France. The hotel also boasts a large heated indoor pool.

5. Domaine des Andéols, the modern touch

In the heart of the Luberon, Domaine des Andéols reinvents the art of hospitality by subtly blending grandiose nature and contemporary creation. This former Provencal hamlet, now an artistic refuge, bears the imprint of Olivier Massart, the visionary scenographer who transformed the family home into a place of embodied hospitality. Spread over almost forty hectares of olive groves, lavender and cypress trees, the Domaine can be visited like an open-air gallery: artworks, installations and design pieces line the paths, while the large terrace under the century-old plane tree invites you to breathe - and enjoy creative local cuisine.

In terms of accommodation, each of the 19 Domaine keys has its own personality, interacting with contemporary art or design, and reinventing the relationship with the landscape. The "Nature" suites, housed in a modern architectural building enveloped in vegetation, open their large bay windows onto the fields. The individual houses, meanwhile, offer privacy, sometimes with private swimming pools.

Some rival each other in boldness: a sculptural four-poster bed, a dressing room inspired by a work by Mondrian, a living room featuring a palm tree or iconic designer pieces... But nature is never forgotten! You move from one house to the next as if in a small dreamlike hamlet, bathed in sunshine and silence. The experience is immersive, almost meditative, and definitely inspiring: at Domaine des Andéols, creation and Provencal nature come together with delightful freedom.
