Shebara Resort: a string of steel on the Red Sea

Suspended above a turquoise lagoon, the 73 futuristic spheres of the Shebara Resort seem to float between sea and sky. The first 100% renewable resort in Saudi Arabia, this low-environmental-impact address on the island of Sheybarah has established itself as an icon of new-generation tourism.

Shebara Resort, 3 key points to remember

  • Sculpted by the Killa Design studio (responsible for Dubai's Museum of the Future), Shebara's polished steel orbs form a constellation of floating architectures off the coast of Saudi Arabia, on a private island in the Red Sea. Invisible at times, so much so that they reflect the nuances of the water and sky, these 73 high-tech cocoons offer a fabulous hotel experience between seascapes and hushed interiors with infinity pools and sea views. The luxurious complex boasts an upscale offering designed for well-being and relaxation. There's a mineral spa carved into the sand, a state-of-the-art fitness center, two main pools, a kids' club and five restaurants with Mediterranean, international and Japanese influences. More active guests can enjoy padel courts, e-foil excursions or diving in the nearby reefs.
  • Shebara is an eco-responsible feat. Built without disturbing the surrounding ecosystems of the island in Tabuk province - coral reefs, mangroves, turtle beaches - the design hotel runs entirely on solar energy. A photovoltaic farm supplies the site, which also produces its own fresh water through desalination. With no single-use plastics, zero waste and widespread recycling, Shebara embodies luxury without a footprint, designed to last.
  • The latest of Red Sea Global's projects, the eco-responsible hotel opened in November 2024, marking a turning point in the kingdom's tourism vision and writing a new chapter for Saudi Arabia. Accessible from the Red Sea International Airport, the resort attracts curious travelers and design enthusiasts, who can nevertheless afford to shell out close to €3,000 for a night. In the evening, its restaurants come alive, its spas open out onto the open sea and private boats moor on the horizon. The future of travel is being invented here.
