The most beautiful spa hotels in and around Aix-en-Provence
Would you like to combine a wellness break with the art of Provencal living, with the Sainte-Victoire in your sights? Put down your suitcases in one of the five hotels with spa in Aix-en-Provence that we have selected.
1. Villa La Coste - Hotel, Restaurant & Spa
The spa? Halfway between Aix-en-Provence and the Luberon Regional Nature Park, the Villa La Coste spa, designed by Hong Kong architect André Fu, exudes a serene atmosphere. This 700m2 showcase of blond oak, natural stone and marble, bathed in natural light, offers a lovely view over the estate's vineyards and is ideal for a relaxing weekend. On the body menu are three signature treatments, including scrubs and wraps. All begin with a footbath ritual and end with a moisturizing massage. But depending on your needs, desires and current mood, the therapist can concoct a longer, totally customized treatment, with the aim of bringing deep physical and emotional well-being.
For example, in the spirit of Provence, you can start with a Basil Blue Mud Body Wrap, curled up on a water mattress with a heated blanket to help the active ingredients penetrate the skin. This treatment is recommended for skin that is dull, stressed, tired or living in a polluted city environment. But it's also recommended for those who don't express their feelings, since its color is linked to the throat chakra. Six other varieties of mud in different colors, directly linked to your body's seven chakras, are also available. Each can provide a targeted solution, depending on which chakra is at fault on the day of treatment. Packed with minerals, these muds boost vitality, revitalize the skin, absorb toxins and regenerate the nervous system.
This is followed by a relaxing, muscular or toning massage using Olive-Apricot-Vanilla Balm. Enriched with shea butter, its silky texture soothes and repairs dehydrated skin. For this massage, you may prefer one of the three oils specially developed by ilā, which increase the soothing, nourishing or stimulating effect tenfold.
The rest of the wellness offer? Also on the spa menu: foot reflexology, Thai floor massage, shiatsu, abhyanga. For facial treatments, in addition to the British brand ilā, our original partner, the Italian Oway is making its debut at Spa Villa La Coste. Yoga classes, guided meditation sessions, rituals for children and teenagers, and beauty treatments for hands and feet complete the offer.
What's the hotel like? Villa La Coste, the region's most exclusive address, boasts 28 villas featuring clean lines, raw materials and large artist's studio-style glass roofs. Owned by Irish Francophile Patrick McKillen, a major collector of contemporary art, it is set in a 200-hectare vineyard, punctuated by monumental sculptures and pavilions designed by the world's leading architects and designers. Since June 2021, multi-starred chef Hélène Darroze has overseen the palace's kitchens, where she works mainly with plants. She mixes produce from local farmers with vegetables grown on the estate, and sometimes sprinkles them with nods to the recipes that made her famous in the southwest.
What makes the difference? All treatments are tailor-made to suit the time available to the customer, his or her state of mind on arrival at the spa, and his or her needs and aspirations.

What's the hotel like? In Le Tholonet, just a few minutes from Aix-en-Provence, the five-hectare estate is home to a 18th-century building full of character. South-facing, the bright rooms and suites, with high ceilings or balconies, are adorned with high curtains in noble materials, matching the bedspreads in a cameo of sober hues. In the grounds, four villas with private swimming pools are ideal for families or groups of friends. Tucked away at the bottom of the garden, bordering the outdoor swimming pool heated to 28°C all year round, it houses a sauna, cryotherapy cabin, tanning booth and solarium. The menu includes two of the brand's must-have treatments: Soin "sous les étoiles", which promotes relaxation using gentle, enveloping techniques, and Soin visage hydratant. This high-performance treatment combines 4 sources of hyaluronic acid with 2 patented active ingredients.
How is the hotel? An ideal place to spend a romantic weekend in the PACA region, it resembles a 18th-century Florentine palace (owned by the Italian Baglioni group), with flower-filled terraces guarded by mythological goddesses. The decor evokes the spirit of the great Provencal residences of yesteryear, particularly in the 23 rooms and suites, baroque boudoirs where Louis XV secretaries, period tapestries and marble bathrooms play the role of accomplice. In the restaurant, chef Christophe Gavot prepares cuisine with Provencal accents, Italian touches and inventive flair.

What's the hotel like? Set between vineyards and formal gardens, on a 25-hectare estate, this 18th-century bastide offers an elegant blend of classicism and contemporary design. The main building houses seven rooms and suites in a refined style (white walls, black wooden headboards and bedside tables, fireplaces, moldings), while the other seven, in the longères, combine copper, gray tones and light oak. In the kitchen, chef Matthieu Dupuis-Baumal stirs the taste buds with Provençal flavors at the Michelin-starred Le Art restaurant, and creates playful dishes inspired by his travels at the La Source bistro.
