Paris: the finest 5-star hotels in the Marais district
The Marais district offers a historic yet resolutely contemporary insight into Parisian life. To discover the charm of its cobbled streets, art galleries and trendy boutiques, Yonder has selected the finest 5-star hotels in the Marais.

1. Cour des Vosges, a 5-star hotel in the Marais district that opts for authenticity
The pitch: Evok Collection's 5-star hotel in the Marais district boasts a unique location. All its windows, without exception, overlook the Place des Vosges and the Square Louis XIII, places steeped in history and laid out at the very beginning of the 17th century. The hotel itself belonged to the Marquis de Montbrun. After having been virtually abandoned, the building was classified as a historic monument and fully renovated to become what it is today: a luxury hotel in Paris with the charm and splendor of yesteryear.

Decorators Yann Le Coadic and Alessandro Scotto have preserved the original volumes and materials. Terracotta floor tiles and painted beams tell the story of three centuries of history, while cohabiting with contemporary design pieces. A real success story. Inside, you'll be charmed by the authenticity of the place.

The rooms: All twelve rooms and suites offer spectacular views of the Place des Vosges. Through their large, elegant windows, you can contemplate the trees of Square Louis XIII and its pink brick pavilions topped with slate roofs. In the superior rooms, savor the intimate charm of the attic space, with its exposed beams and cosy banquette seating. The suites are distinguished by their sometimes daring decor, notably the four-poster beds installed in a stainless steel box. Cour des Vosges is an invitation to stretch out your time, and you'll enjoy reading the carefully selected books, novels and magazines in each room.

A must: At the foot of the hotel, stroll under the arcades, discover the art galleries and typical Parisian cafés. Visit the House of Victor Hugo - who lived on Place des Vosges, as did many historical figures - before taking a gourmet break at the Brach pastry corner, with its traditional desserts and signature creations such as the exquisite Fleur d'Automne (a buckwheat crunch, creamy buckwheat chocolate cookie and chocolate mousse). And to extend this gentle interlude, push open the door to the relaxation area on the hotel's ground floor. There, under a vaulted ceiling, you can relax in a Roman bath, sheltered from the noise of the world.
Price: from 570 euros per night.

Rooms: The 140 rooms and suites are located between the 7th and 14th floors. And when you put your suitcases down, the wow effect is guaranteed. The corner suites offer breathtaking panoramic views. Enjoy a drink against the glitter of the night, in a hushed silence suspended above the hustle and bustle. All rooms are decorated in a sober, elegant style, with natural touches of wood and leather creating a warm, soothing atmosphere.

Right from the lobby, you'll be seduced by the immense contemporary columns and the luminous tondo work by artist Neil Beloufa. On the 15th floor, as if in apotheosis, studio Other Spaces has designed The Seeing City : a monumental installation of mirrors suspended from the ceiling of the panoramic restaurant in Paris Bonnie. The 360° view of the City of Light is infinitely multiplied, and the experience is breathtaking. On the plate: French cuisine revisited and, in the evening, the atmosphere transforms into a club, attracting a Parisian and international clientele.

3. Hotel Le Grand Mazarin
The pitch: The jewel in the crown of the Maisons Pariente luxury hotel group - whose names you've already heard about include the Crillon le Brave in Provence, Le Coucou Méribel and the Lou Pinet hotel in Saint-Tropez - the 5-star Marais hotel Le Grand Mazarin is housed in a historic building dating back to the 14th century. It's appreciated for its proximity to the main attractions in and around the Marais: the Place des Vosges, the Centre Pompidou, the Musée Picasso and the Grands Boulevards are all within walking distance of this luxury establishment, for a distinguished cultural and tourist stay.

The plus: To extend the Grand Mazarin experience beyond the comfort of its rooms, treat yourself to a gentle interlude at the spa. Between the swimming pool, Jacuzzi and deckchairs installed under the ceiling painted by Jacques Merle, the artist has created an almost dreamlike atmosphere. Hammam, gym, showers adorned with a gradation of green mosaics, cabins dedicated to massages and beauty rituals: everything invites absolute relaxation. 4. Hôtel Dupond-Smith, a 5-star hotel in the Marais design and confidential
The pitch: Behind its discreet, almost anonymous façade, Hôtel Dupond-Smith cultivates the art of confidentiality and made-to-measure. The establishment offers just eight rooms, for travelers in search of privacy and contemporary elegance.
Designed by architects Anne Peyroux and Emmanuèle Thisy, the hotel in the Marais offers a subtle play of contrasts between wood, copper, marble and silk. Every element has been carefully selected, from signed furniture to sculptural lighting fixtures. You'll be delighted to settle in, as if in a high-end design bubble.

6. Le Pavillon de la Reine, a stay in the lap of history
The pitch: With its elegant, bucolic facade clad in Virginia creeper, Le Pavillon de la Reine has a charm all of its own. Located on the Place des Vosges, it takes its name from Anne of Austria, Louis XIII's wife, who lived there in the 17th century.
Entirely decorated by Kerylos Intérieurs architect Didier Benderli, it retains its aura of aristocratic refinement, blending the authenticity of an old residence with the art of Parisian living. The rustle of leaves in the garden, the flashes of light on the waxed parquet floors, the unexpected calm of the inner courtyard... everything invites you to slow down, breathe and savor.

The 5-star hotel in the Marais also boasts a magnificent 250 m2 spa in the basement and a gym. In this soothing setting, bathed in muted lighting and the murmur of water, every detail extends the sensory interlude of a place entirely dedicated to well-being.
The rooms: You'll feel right at home in the 56 rooms and suites, with their soft, warm aesthetic. This is quiet luxury at its finest: natural tones, precious fabrics, panoramic wallpapers by Ananbô... Each room embodies a modern, hushed version of French luxury.

A must: For gourmets, the Michelin-starred restaurant Anne celebrates the seasonality of Parisian markets in an intimate setting. To catch a few rays of sunshine, you can sit out on its terrace, nestled in a veritable secret garden. When the weather's not so kind, you can take advantage of the dining room with its antique fireplace and cosy atmosphere.

7. Maison Proust, an ode to Belle-Epoque refinement
The pitch: Maison Proust is part of the Maisons Particulières collection by Sylviane Sanz and Yoni Aïdan, as is the Maison Souquet, a hotel in Pigalle. Perfectly placed for exploring the Marais district, it plunges us into the splendor of the aristocratic salons of the Belle Époque, and we fall irrevocably under the spell of the decor by Jacques Garcia, who went so far as to find antique paintings, furniture and objets d'art to reproduce the hushed atmosphere of Marcel Proust's novels. Special mention must go to the rotunda library, with its antique books and majestic gold-leaf ceiling embellished with stars.

Rooms: Access is via corridors upholstered in Cordoba leather. Each key bears the name of a key figure in the cultural life of the 19th century. The Colette suite seduces with its charming writing cabinet; the Baudelaire with its dark romanticism. The Comtesse Greffulhe suite, decorated in green and black, pays homage to the secret muse of the young Marcel Proust. Everywhere, the light is soft, and time seems suspended.

The must: The Spa La Mer offers a moment of absolute relaxation with its water lounge that can be reserved just for you. Inspired by Aunt Léonie's oriental salon in À la recherche du temps perdu, it offers a soothing, intimate blue-gray decor. You can then order a cocktail at the hotel bar, a refined cocoon of wood panelling and warmly-coloured drapes. Facing a monumental fireplace, savor Le Temps retrouvé, a creation inspired by Proust's famous Madeleine. To be savored slowly... and in moderation.

The price: from 1,000 euros per night.
