Podium, Glenn Viel’s affordable, festive restaurant
Located at the entrance to the Beaugrenelle shopping center, Podium welcomes groups of friends in search of a place with a confident ambience, between disco balls and nods to the seventies. Yonder’s entire editorial team took a seat there: here’s our verdict.

The pitch | A gastronomic mogul at the helm
Les Bistrots Pas Parisiens group strikes again. This restaurant in the 15th arrondissement of Paris offers a very Parisian view from its terrace: as you lean over your table, the Eiffel Tower and the (small) Statue of Liberty can be seen in the distance.
While the 1960s-70s-inspired decor and danceable soundtrack were immediately appealing, the real surprise was to discover that the menu was signed by Glenn Viel. Glenn Viel is the star chef of l'Oustau de Baumanière, one of Provence's finest restaurants. Renowned for his boundless inventiveness, the maestro officiates in a three-star restaurant where few get the chance to sit down. That's why Podium is so appealing: it offers an affordable gateway to exceptional cuisine.
What's on the menu?
A bistro menu signed by a multi-starred chef? That's a recipe for great discoveries. And rightly so: after a fresh, crisp tomato millefeuille in three textures, or a more daring ceviche of sea bream with curried carrot juice reduction, the taste buds are delighted by a filet of scorpion fish with fine condiments: lemon, fennel, olive oil, chives, olive, basil and reduced bone juice. The famous French croque-monsieur, usually eaten on the go, is worked here with smoked turkey ham, caramelized onions, mustard and a Comté and Parmesan béchamel. A nod to the house's bistro DNA. For dessert (and if we'd known what a treat it would be, we'd probably have settled for the - already very fine - Caesar salad as a main course!) a baked brioche perdue, crisp, melt-in-the-mouth, soft without being spongy, topped with a blueberry jam. A finale we're still thinking about...
What's there to remember? A bistro where you come for a retro evening under the disco balls. With a starter-main course-dessert menu at a hefty 40 euros, quality and generosity are the order of the day. An address we recommend without hesitation.
We go for : Hot nights, Thursday to Saturday evenings. Every weekend, the Podium restaurant transforms itself into a chic dancefloor, with live artists, a unique menu and a crazy atmosphere that makes you want to dance on the tables.
Prices? Starters from 14 euros. Main course, from 20 euros. Dessert, priced at 12 euros.
