Hôtel & Spa du Castellet: fine cuisine and well-being in the Var region

In the heart of a twelve-hectare park overlooking the Grande Bleue, the Hôtel & Spa du Castellet, a Relais & Châteaux member and holder of three Michelin stars, is a champion of refinement, thanks in particular to its gastronomic offering – the three-star restaurant (2024) of young prodigy Fabien Ferré – and its vast spa.

The pitch | Hôtel & Spa du Castellet, a 5-star address in Provence

Once home to drivers racing on the nearby Paul Ricard circuit in Le Castellet, the Relais & Châteaux Hôtel & Spa du Castellet has evolved into an elegantly luxurious five-star hotel. Just a few minutes from Le Castellet, a charming medieval village, it enjoys an exceptional location just a stone's throw from the Bandol vineyards and the beaches of Sanary-sur-mer, Saint-Cyr-sur-mer...

First impressions

Perfectly integrated into the landscape, the bastides and ochre villas evoking Tuscan architecture are scattered throughout the park in harmony with the natural environment. The hotel is the perfect embodiment of the gentle way of life, almost from another era, with its attention to detail and attentive service.

And the bedrooms?

The decor of the 43 rooms and suites, all south-facing and with private terraces where you can enjoy breakfast, has a cosy-chic feel and soft colors that pay homage to Provence. Their respectable size - from 27 to 32m2 for the rooms and from 50 to 70m2 for the suites - offers all the space needed, not forgetting of course the sumptuous 150m2 exceptional suite.

La Table by Christophe Bacquié

Here's a good reason to spend a few days at the Hôtel & Spa du Castellet: discover the restaurants designed by this year's new three-star chef, Fabien Ferré - Christophe Bacquié's sous-chef here for ten years before he replaced him last year - and France's youngest three-star chef at 35!

It's time to start at La Table, a delightful experience that showcases Provence and the Mediterranean, with products sourced from the region's finest producers. The gastronomic restaurant is decorated in a contemporary style, with light tones, wood and slate, taking full advantage of the natural surroundings. As for the food, it's worth the trip in itself, and charms with its modernity, with two perfectly executed menus: Expression Marine and Expression Végétale.

The San Felice restaurant, run by Thibaud Durix, Fabien Ferré's assistant chef, offers a more bistro-style gourmet experience, in an enchanting setting overlooking nature and the sea, which can be seen in the distance. A perfect address for a gourmet weekend. A favorite meeting place for families and groups of friends, they all come together to share Provencal and Mediterranean-inspired dishes, as well as the place's specialty: grilling, whether it's exceptional meats such as lobster or sustainably caught fish. It's almost like being in Tuscany...

The spa

Voted "Best Luxury Spa in Europe" by the World Luxury Spa Awards 2019, this spa is also well worth a visit. Spanning 700m2, it boasts 7 cabins (including one duo and one suite). There's an innovative sensory pathway, an indoor pool with bubbling basins, a sauna, an ice fountain, a hammam, a salt grotto... And don't forget to take a walk in the Kneipp Canal. The alternating hot and cold currents are great for blood and lymph circulation. Treatments are offered by Sym Biologic System. In short, one of the finest luxury spa hotels in France.

5 things we loved about Hôtel & Spa Le Castellet

  • The Swing Center, a training center at the hotel. Ideal for learning golf or perfecting your game. Beginner and advanced golf lessons available.
  • The Bar, punctuated by small alcoves and featuring a fireplace, natural stone, beige monochrome and a large terrace with a view.
  • The hotel's boutique, featuring stylish sportswear. We appreciate the references to the Circuit du Castellet, thanks to the 8Js clothing range designed by Sacha Prost, son of former racing driver Alain Prost, of course!
  • The gazebos, an exotic spot nestled in the park, ideal for a moment of relaxation or a romantic interlude.
  • And, of course, as befits a hotel in the South of France, the pétanque court.
