The most beautiful hotels in Saint-Tropez and its peninsula
What are the best hotels in Saint-Tropez? Prestigious palaces or confidential boutique hotels, design havens or refurbished country houses, the most famous village on the Côte d’Azur has no shortage of fine addresses. Here’s an overview.
A peaceful fishing village until the 1950s, Saint-Tropez has become the emblem of a glamorous and festive Côte d’Azur since the film Et Dieu créa la femme starring Brigitte Bardot. And every summer, Saint-Tropez remains one of the favorite destinations of the global jet-set. The wealthy clientele, at least those who don’t stay aboard the yachts that populate its bay, are spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a hotel. Saint-Tropez and the neighboring towns on its peninsula are home to the largest concentration of luxury hotels in France, after Paris and head to head with Courchevel! Discover here our selection of the most beautiful hotels in Saint-Tropez and the surrounding area.
The best hotels in Saint-Tropez: Our favorites
Villa Marie Saint-Tropez (Ramatuelle)
Known for their warm, chic mountain hotels - including the legendary Fermes de Marie in Megève - the Sibuet family has opened an Italian villa-style address nestled on a hillside in the hills of Ramatuelle. Outside, you'll lose yourself in a lush garden, a celadon-blue swimming pool and a green terrace-greenhouse. Entering the lobby, you're greeted by an explosion of warm hues, embellished by Florentine furniture and antique objects. The 45 rooms and suites, some with panoramic views over the Bay of Pampelonne, reflect this relaxed style.
The Dolce Vita restaurant offers a sun-drenched culinary experience, where every dish celebrates the rich flavors of the south. From breakfast to dinner, you'll enjoy dishes bursting with sunshine: fish from the day's catch, fragrant citrus fruits and seasonal vegetables. The whole experience is set against a Provencal backdrop: from one of the terraces or under the cosy glass roof, you can enjoy the bright green of the pine trees, the azure of the Mediterranean and the song of the cicada.
Villa Marie Saint-Tropez also boasts a Pure Altitude spa where you can indulge in a treatment with... mountain plants, a nod to the alpine DNA of the Sibuet houses. The spirit of the French Riviera shines through in the three treatment rooms, the outdoor area and the heated swimming pool: a turquoise, Conchylian decor irrigated by the scent of pine, rose and jasmine. The spa offers a full range of facial and body treatments, including relaxing massages, special treatments for men, as well as beauty services for hands and feet and waxing.

Airelles Saint-Tropez, Château de la Messardière (Saint-Tropez)
Overlooking the Bay of Pampelonne, Château de la Messardière is without doubt our favorite Saint-Tropez hotel. Once home to the Duc de la Messardière before being transformed into a luxury hotel, it has the privilege of being set in 12 hectares of verdant parkland, dotted with cypress, Mediterranean pine and century-old olive trees. This 5-star hotel, classified as a Palace since 2012, prides itself on being one of the most beautiful hotels on the Côte d'Azur. In fact, it is, with its faultless service, impeccable decor and brand-new infrastructure, at the cutting edge of ultra-luxury. Bought by Stéphane Courbit, already owner of the Pan Deï Palais and several restaurants in Saint-Tropez, the hotel has joined the "Maisons d'Exception" Airelles (Courchevel, Gordes...). At La Messardière, you can simply admire the finest sea views in the region. The spectacular castle with its recognizable turrets, domes and colonnades houses 99 rooms and suites, an immense Valmont spa (1,000m2) and several restaurants (Japanese, Italian and Mediterranean, see below).
All 103 keys, even the smallest (20 m²), offer a view of the surrounding countryside, from the estate's gardens to the vineyards of Ramatuelle and, even more spectacularly, the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. In terms of decor, the style is both chic and discreet, and most rooms have a terrace or balcony, opening up the space to the outside world.
On the gastronomic front, if you're looking to travel the world while enjoying the view over Pampelonne Bay, international chef Nobu's Matsuhisa Saint-Tropez restaurant offers a fusion menu with Asian flavors, while Paladio proposes sun-drenched dishes highlighting Italian flavors. Nor can we miss La Table du Chef or lunch on the beach at Jardin Tropezina, the hotel's beach club.
Good to know? All the living areas and the Valmont spa were renovated in 2020, as were the edges of the pool. A new swimming pool has been built between the garden terraces, with a breathtaking view over Pampelonne Bay.
The hotel also boasts two artificial turf tennis courts, sumptuous gyms opening onto the gardens, and a kids' club with the best facilities available. A 500m2 villa has been integrated into the estate and dedicated to children. It features a private, supervised swimming pool, cinema room, 7 or 8 playrooms (the lego room is a must, as are the arcade rooms) and huge outdoor areas with trampolines, a giant wooden pirate ship... and recently an educational farm! A paradise for children aged 3 and over.

Cheval Blanc Saint-Tropez (Saint-Tropez)
Formerly the Résidence de la Pinède before its takeover by LVMH, this jewel of the Tropez hotel scene now figures prominently in Bernard Arnault's ultra-luxury Cheval Blanc hotel collection (Courchevel, Saint-Barth, the Maldives and Cheval Blanc Paris). A most successful transformation for this magnificent building with its light-colored facades on the beachfront, which retains its vast terrace with century-old pines, its large swimming pool, direct access to the beach, and has been enriched by a sumptuous Guerlain Spa. In the 30 rooms and suites, the sober, contemporary lines of Jean-Michel Wilmotte are complemented by shades of blue, natural materials, marble bathrooms and always the omnipresent light.
What makes the difference? The hotel is the only establishment in Saint-Tropez - and one of the few on the Côte d'Azur - to boast a 3-star Michelin restaurant, La Vague d'Or, by chef Arnaud Donckele.

Lou Pinet (Saint-Tropez)
Travelers looking for something new, head for the Lou Pinet, a 5-star hotel inaugurated in 2019 and part of the Maisons Pariente collection (Hôtel Crillon-le-Brave at the foot of Mont Ventoux, Le Coucou in Méribel...). Just five minutes from Place des Lices (20-25 min. walk), the place cultivates the discreet charm of the 60s, in a vintage-chic atmosphere faithful to the Saint-Tropez of yesteryear: provencal decorative arts, golden lights, a garden filled with the scents of lavender, citrus and umbrella pines... The 34 rooms decorated by Charles Zana - some with private gardens - exude a colorful summer spirit, which is echoed under the pergola of the Beefbar restaurant, which specializes in exceptional meats.
What makes the difference? A " secret " grotto houses the spa of American brand Tata Harper, renowned for its certified organic natural products (two treatment rooms, one of which is double, and a hammam).

Not to mention 14 ultra-chic villas (from 250m2) with private gardens, for lovers of calm and breathtaking views over the Mediterranean.

Hôtel La Ponche (Saint-Tropez)
The legendary Riviera hotel featured on the screen in Et Dieu... créa la femme, La Ponche reopened its doors in 2021 after eight months of renovation. Its management has been entrusted to Audrey Brémond, alongside chef Thomas Danigo, who heads up the hotel's table. Located in old Saint-Tropez, the 5-star pocket hotel unveils its new silhouette, redesigned by interior designer Fabrizio Casiraghi. With 21 rooms (including 5 suites), the hotel retains its charm and history, exuding summertime elegance. Described as"a vacation home by the sea", the refuge is illustrated by a black-and-white marble checkerboard floor, lithographs, a library, a veranda and beautiful traditional round brass keys. At the Le Saint Germain des Prés bar, made famous by Boris Vian's band, the cocktail menu delivers the eternal standards that ensure a night without end.
Good to know? the ultimate room, 8, overlooks the rooftops of Saint-Tropez, the citadel, the bell tower and the sea.

Le Byblos (Saint-Tropez)
If Saint-Trop' had to be summed up in one mythical hotel, it would undoubtedly be the Byblos. The 5-star “palace” (of which there are only 31 in France) presents 4 new signature suites designed by interior designer Laura Gonzalez, who drew her inspiration from the magical colors of Saint-Tropez and the very essence of the establishment. The suites, decorated in 4 unique atmospheres (coral tones, shades of yellow, turquoise variations and celadon gradations), have been conceived as a luxury guest house within the hotel. Since its opening in 1967, this family-run establishment, which extends over 17,000 m2 of gardens, squares and fountains, has welcomed the biggest stars attracted by its discreet luxury, bohemian spirit, made-to-measure service and the renown of its nightclub, Les Caves du Roy, a mecca for Tropezian nights.
8. Lily of the Valley (La Croix-Valmer)
Located a little further away in La Croix-Valmer (25 min from Saint-Tropez), this 5-star hotel with a poetic name designed by Philippe Starck (Brach Paris, 9Confidentiel, Ha(a)ïtza in Pyla-sur-Mer...) had already caught our eye when it opened in summer 2019. Just a few hundred meters from the beautiful Gigaro beach, surrounded by protected natural areas, this human-scale hotel - 38 rooms and 6 suites with private terraces - has all the trappings of a “big hotel”: two swimming pools, two restaurants, and 2,000m2 dedicated to well-being, with gyms and a holistic spa. A member of Leading Hotels of the World, guests come to Lily of the Valley for the ultimate in fitness.
What makes the difference? Lily of the Valley stands out for its 100% wellness positioning, in the heart of one of the wildest spots on the Saint-Tropez peninsula.

The secret address? Épi 1959 (Baie de Pampelonne, Ramatuelle)
This is one of the most emblematic addresses of the Tropezian golden age, reinventing itself after half a century without losing any of its cachet. Nestled behind Ramatuelle's Pampelonne beach, Épi 1959 is the place to come to recharge your batteries, swim, do yoga, play golf or tennis, or go biking in the great outdoors. Renovated in 2018 by Italian interior designer Monica Damonte and American landscape architect Madison Cox, the place has remained a little pearl in the Côte d'Azur with an intimate spirit: 10 cabanons with swimming pools and shaded patios, including a cottage where the spirit of Brigitte Bardot and Audrey Hepburn still hovers. On the food front, Épi boasts an izakaya-style Japanese restaurant.
What makes the difference? Its direct access to Pampelonne beach.
Good to know? With its club-style operation, you need to be a member to reserve a room at Épi 1959.
