The most beautiful hotels in Saint-Tropez and its peninsula

What are the best hotels in Saint-Tropez? Prestigious palaces or confidential boutique hotels, design havens or refurbished country houses, the most famous village on the Côte d’Azur has no shortage of fine addresses. Here’s an overview.

A peaceful fishing village until the 1950s, Saint-Tropez has become the emblem of a glamorous and festive Côte d’Azur since the film Et Dieu créa la femme starring Brigitte Bardot. And every summer, Saint-Tropez remains one of the favorite destinations of the global jet-set. The wealthy clientele, at least those who don’t stay aboard the yachts that populate its bay, are spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a hotel. Saint-Tropez and the neighboring towns on its peninsula are home to the largest concentration of luxury hotels in France, after Paris and head to head with Courchevel! Discover here our selection of the most beautiful hotels in Saint-Tropez and the surrounding area.

The best hotels in Saint-Tropez: Our favorites

1. Villa Marie Saint-Tropez, Ramatuelle

There are a few addresses in Saint-Tropez that offer more than just an overnight stay: Villa Marie is one of those rare luxury hotels where you have the feeling of entering a suspended place, protected by a three-hectare pine forest where the light filters through the trunks before fading into the bay. You're staying in a 5-star luxury hotel that manages to combine absolute calm with immediate proximity to the "other" Tropézien: that of the beaches, the vibrant nightlife and the must-visit addresses. A precious balance that few establishments master.

Since its opening, the hotel has cultivated a very personal aesthetic: a blend of self-assured Riviera and bohemian elegance. Known for its warm, chic mountain hotels, including the legendary Fermes de Marie in Megève, the Sibuet family has created a 5-star address with the allure of an Italian villa nestled on a hillside. Inside, sunny colors mingle with pastels - tangerine, turquoise, soft peony - while materials do the rest: weathered woods, shaped ceramics, discreetly marine frescoes, light fabrics and furniture brought back from Italy. Nothing is set in stone; everything seems to have been chosen with the eye of a collector who knows his pieces. The gentleness of life flows freely through the volumes, carried by the scents of the garden, and the song of the cicadas is a permanent soundtrack. Outside, you can lose yourself in an abundant garden, a celadon-blue swimming pool and a green terrace-greenhouse.

The 45 rooms and suites extend the Riviera spirit of the house with a variety of volumes and atmospheres. The Classiques open onto the patio, with their free-standing bathtub designed as a retro nod, while others, high up in the turret, benefit from a balcony overlooking the pine forest. Slightly larger, the Villa Rooms alternate between terraces and balconies, depending on their orientation, but always bathed in light. The Prestige Rooms add an Italian loggia to reinforce the romantic atmosphere of this category.

Family travelers naturally turn to the Junior Family Suites, organized around a master bedroom and an independent space for two children. Even more spacious, the 50-60 m² Suites each have their own personality, but share a separate living room and balcony overlooking Pampelonne Bay, making them highly sought-after retreats.

Some of the signature rooms boast some of the finest views a 5-star luxury hotel can offer in Saint-Tropez. The Pampelonne, with its 40 m² of powder pink and rosewood, opens its balcony directly onto the sea, while the Junior Canoubiers, more graphic in its play of whites and blues, lets in the light from the bay through a tiled loggia.

The dining experience follows a rhythm perfectly attuned to the gentleness of the setting, like a Tropezian day that unfolds without a hitch. In the morning, breakfast served on the patio or terrace sets the mood for a soothing Riviera experience: fresh fruit, eggs prepared à la minute, warm pancakes, pastries, juices of the day and gluten-free options for those who prefer lightness. At lunchtime, the menu adopts more southern accents, with salads of Nice zucchini, crisp vegetables, pissaladière, sea bream or local peaches poached in estate rosé.

Afternoons slip naturally into the Bellini & Bikini Pool Bar, around the heated lagoon pool dug into the rock: pearly cocktails, chilled rosé and long interludes in the sun. In the evening, the Dolce Vita takes over under the glass roof or on the terrace, where the sea discreetly invites itself in between the pine trees. Here, the chef serves an essential Mediterranean cuisine, with fish from the day's catch, southern vegetables, citrus fruits and herbs, in an atmosphere that takes on a softness as dusk falls.

The Pure Altitude Spa, housed in an intimate pavilion, boasts three cabins and rituals inspired by alpine plants: hot shell massages, cryo, gua sha, kobido, after-sun treatments... All enveloped by the scents of pine and rose that dominate the garden. Just a few metres away, the fitness room opens onto the greenery, offering wooden WaterRower machines, a water rowing machine, a non-motorized Sprintbok treadmill, a Nohrd Bike and an area dedicated to gentle exercise.

Behind the scenes, the concierge orchestrates everything from private yacht sunsets to helicopter flights over the Côte d'Azur, to the shuttle that drops guests off at Place des Lices throughout the day.

Villa Marie belongs to that rare circle of Saint-Tropez's finest 5-star luxury hotels, those that know how to combine sea views, absolute calm, Mediterranean gardens and the true art of entertaining. It's a timeless place, halfway between a family home and an Italian villa, where the Riviera is experienced more as a pleasure than as a demonstration.

2. Airelles Saint-Tropez, Château de la Messardière (Saint-Tropez)

Overlooking the Bay of Pampelonne, Château de la Messardière is without doubt our favorite Saint-Tropez hotel. Once home to the Duc de la Messardière before being transformed into a luxury hotel, it has the privilege of being set in 12 hectares of verdant parkland, dotted with cypress, Mediterranean pine and century-old olive trees. This 5-star hotel, classified as a Palace since 2012, prides itself on being one of the most beautiful hotels on the Côte d'Azur. In fact, it is, with its faultless service, impeccable decor and brand-new infrastructure, at the cutting edge of ultra-luxury. Bought by Stéphane Courbit, already owner of the Pan Deï Palais and several restaurants in Saint-Tropez, the hotel has joined the "Maisons d'Exception" Airelles (Courchevel, Gordes...). At La Messardière, you can simply admire the finest sea views in the region. The spectacular castle with its recognizable turrets, domes and colonnades houses 99 rooms and suites, an immense Valmont spa (1,000m2) and several restaurants (Japanese, Italian and Mediterranean, see below).

Château de la Messardière © David Grimbert

All 99 keys, even the smallest (20 m²), offer a view of the surrounding countryside, from the estate's gardens to the vineyards of Ramatuelle and, even more spectacularly, the Gulf of Saint-Tropez. In terms of decor, the style is both chic and discreet, and most rooms have a terrace or balcony, opening up the space to the outside world.

When it comes to fine dining, if you're looking to travel while enjoying views of Pampelonne Bay, international chef Nobu's Matsuhisa Saint-Tropez restaurant offers a fusion menu with Asian flavors, while Palladio serves up sunny dishes showcasing Italian flavors that you'll never tire of: marinated zucchini, eggplant tartare “caponata” style, or the signature dish tagliolino with lemon caviar, salicornia, and langoustines. Don't miss La Table de La Messardière or lunch on the beach at Jardin Tropezina, by Michelin-starred chef Jean-François Piège.

Good to know? All the living areas and the Valmont spa were renovated in 2020, as were the edges of the pool. A new swimming pool has been built between the garden terraces, with a breathtaking view over Pampelonne Bay.

The hotel also boasts two artificial turf tennis courts, sumptuous gyms opening onto the gardens, and a kids' club with the best facilities available. A 500m2 villa has been integrated into the estate and dedicated to children. It features a private, supervised swimming pool, cinema room, 7 or 8 playrooms (the lego room is a must, as are the arcade rooms) and huge outdoor areas with trampolines, a giant wooden pirate ship... and recently an educational farm! A paradise for children aged 3 and over.

3. Villa Zélie, by Le Collectionist, in Saint-Tropez

A vestige of modernized Provencal architecture, Villa Zélie, part of Le Collectionist's exclusive selection, unfurls its 300 m² facing the Mediterranean. Located in the highly sought-after Capon district, the villa is just a few minutes' walk from Plage des Salins, one of the Gulf's last wild beaches, where the golden sands provide a backdrop for wind-twisted pines and the salty scent of tamarisk.

villa zélie saint tropez
villa Zélie

Able to accommodate up to 8 guests in its four en-suite bedrooms, it cultivates the art of light: bay windows opening onto the sea, living rooms bathed in sunlight, natural furniture with sober lines. No superfluous frills here, just a refined atmosphere where white stone, bleached beams and raw textiles create a decor of Mediterranean elegance, just a few minutes from the village.

Luxury is reinvented by the heated infinity pool, where the water mirror reflects the pine trees and changing skies. After a morning dip, walk to the beach for a savory escapade, before gathering around the pool house for a cool lunch. The Collectionist concierge takes care of the rest: a boat trip with picnic on board, a private tour of the Gulf vineyards, a cooking class with a Michelin-starred chef or a private evening under the stars, complete with DJ and fireworks. In the evening, the villa becomes an intimate theater: barbecue grills, laughter under the pergola, then a nightcap by the fireplace.

4. Byblos, Saint-Tropez

Last year, the 5-star "palace" (there are only 31 in France) presented 4 new signature suites designed by interior designer Laura Gonzalez, who drew her inspiration from the magical colors of Saint-Tropez and the very essence of the establishment. The suites, decorated in 4 unique atmospheres (coral tones, shades of yellow, turquoise variations and celadon gradations) were conceived as a luxury guest house within the hotel. Since its opening in 1967, this family-run establishment, which extends over 17,000m2 of gardens, squares and fountains, has welcomed the biggest stars attracted by its discreet luxury, bohemian spirit, made-to-measure service and the renown of its nightclub, Les Caves du Roy, a mecca for Tropezian nights.

In 2025, Byblos boldly reinvents its gastronomic offering. Three new venues - Il Giardino, the B.Lounge and the Sky Bar - will enrich the culinary scene of the luxury hotel in Saint-Tropez, each with a strong identity. At Il Giardino, the poolside Italian restaurant, chef Nicola Canuti's generous, instinctive menu pays homage to the recipes of his childhood. Fresh homemade pasta rubs shoulders with marine-inspired dishes (fritto misto, crudo du jour), and desserts by pastry chef Geoffrey Turpin add a touch of sweetness to this ode to la dolce vita. Not far away, the B.Lounge offers a sunnier atmosphere, ideal for a bathrobe lunch or an extended aperitif in the shade of the parasols. Ceviches, truffle pizzas, Mediterranean bowls, competition burgers and signature cocktails accompany the day until dusk. Finally, perched above the pool, the Sky Bar plays a more subdued score as the sun goes down, with a glass of vintage champagne in hand, in a décor punctuated by mosaics and echoes of the palace's splendid years in the tropics.

If you come to the Byblos to eat well, you also stay here to refocus. Its holistic spa cultivates a deeply personalized approach to well-being. More than just a treatment space, it's a destination that offers immersive retreats and rituals with evocative names throughout the season - Épopée Terre, Feu, Eau or Air - combining holistic treatments, customized beauty and garden menus. Experiences include breathwork sessions accompanied by infrared mats, sound baths with a sonotherapist, osteothai, yoga and reiki in sessions guided by hand-picked practitioners. All in a hushed ambience where listening to oneself takes on its full meaning, between the scents of precious oils, subdued lighting and chosen silence. Open to residents and guests alike, this sanctuary for letting go is one of the most complete and inspiring on the Côte d'Azur.

5. Villa Hanoi, by Le Collectionist, in Ramatuelle

On a vast carpet of perfectly trimmed lawn, Villa Hanoi stands like a cube of concrete and glass fused to the Mediterranean horizon. With its well-thought-out 500 sq. m. of living space, its seven refined bedrooms and its bay windows that dilute the boundaries between inside and outside, this property from Le Collectionist's selection of exceptional homes embodies a certain idea of radical elegance.

Inside, the immaculate walls are awakened by turquoise, fuchsia or apple-green carpets, pastel linen armchairs and arty neon lights. The minimalist kitchen is shaken by a candy-pink table and a multicolored contemporary artwork - a deliberate nod to Ocean Drive's pop aesthetic. The living room is a private gallery, where natural light plays with carefully chosen objects. In fine weather, the infinity pool becomes an infinite mirror of the sea, while designer parasols and marshmallow-pink deckchairs offer a light break between morning and afternoon.

But Villa Hanoi doesn't sacrifice comfort for aesthetics: its massage room promises moments of well-being, the gym keeps up the pace of active days, and the petanque court provokes friendly jousts in the shade of the olive grove. An indoor cinema completes the set-up for more intimate moments, and an outdoor kitchen with pizza oven assembles. A private driveway links the villa to the local beach elite: Nikki Beach or Tahiti Beach, with a relaxed atmosphere to suit every mood.

The art of the tailor-made stay finds here an ideal field of expression: a simple word to the Collectionist concierge and the day is written between coastal navigation, wine tasting in the nearby vineyards, gourmet cooking lessons with a starred chef or the organization of unforgettable evenings to the sound of a DJ, the night illuminated by fireworks. It's a house-museum plunging into the Mediterranean, where every space offers a strong sensation, and where life is written in nuances, from stark whiteness to splashes of tangy color.

6. Cheval Blanc Saint-Tropez

Formerly the Résidence de la Pinède before its takeover by LVMH, this jewel of the Tropez hotel scene now figures prominently in Bernard Arnault's ultra-luxury Cheval Blanc hotel collection (Courchevel, Saint-Barth, the Maldives and Cheval Blanc Paris). A most successful transformation for this magnificent building with its light-colored facades on the beachfront, which retains its vast terrace with century-old pines, its large swimming pool, direct access to the beach, and has been enriched by a sumptuous Guerlain Spa. In the 30 rooms and suites, the sober, contemporary lines of Jean-Michel Wilmotte are complemented by shades of blue, natural materials, marble bathrooms and always the omnipresent light.

Travelers looking for something new, head for the Lou Pinet, a 5-star hotel inaugurated in 2019 and part of the Maisons Pariente collection (Hôtel Crillon-le-Brave at the foot of Mont Ventoux, Le Coucou in Méribel...). Just five minutes from Place des Lices (20-25 min. walk), the place cultivates the discreet charm of the 60s, in a vintage-chic atmosphere faithful to the Saint-Tropez of yesteryear: provencal decorative arts, golden lights, a garden filled with the scents of lavender, citrus and umbrella pines... The 34 rooms decorated by Charles Zana - some with private gardens - exude a colorful summer spirit, which is echoed under the pergola of the Beefbar restaurant, which specializes in exceptional meats.

With 21 rooms (including 5 suites), the hotel retains its charm and history, exuding summertime elegance. Described as"a vacation home by the sea", the refuge is illustrated by a black-and-white marble checkerboard floor, lithographs, a library, a veranda and beautiful traditional round brass keys. At the restaurant-bar, chef Thomas Danigo serves up sun-kissed Mediterranean cuisine. Dishes include wild swordfish, a colorful collection of Swiss chard, meat juice with spicy Calabrian sausage and pilaf rice, and beef fillet with chanterelle mushrooms, creamy polenta and a full-bodied hazelnut oil jus.
