The best hotels in Madrid
Between historical heritage and contemporary effervescence, Madrid cultivates the art of refinement. In the Spanish capital, hotels vie with each other in inventiveness to offer stays where elegance is experienced as much as contemplated. Here’s a tour of Madrid’s finest hotels.

1. Brach Madrid, luxury hotel in Madrid lively, vibrant, singular
An icon of the Madrid hotel scene, the Brach opened its doors in 1922, right in the heart of the capital. Between the Royal Palace and the Porte d'Alcalá, a stone's throw from the Plaza Mayor, the 5-star hotel overlooks the mythical Gran Via, the city's liveliest shopping street. The effervescence of the capital, vibrant day and night, is perfectly matched by Brach's magnetic energy. Over the course of its century-long existence, the seven-storey building has played host to such great names as the Alfonso family, a famous dynasty of photojournalists, and the writer Victor Hugo, who spent part of his childhood here.

Warmly designed by Philippe Starck, the architecture blends French art de vivre with Spanish culture in a nostalgic 1920s-30s ambiance. Poetic with a keen eye for detail, the Evok Collection's setting impresses from the moment you enter, with its terracotta-paved lobby. Our favorite hotel in Madrid, for its location, history and design.
In the restaurant, decorated with paintings, beautiful objects and woven leather ceilings, Philippe Starck has recreated the atmosphere of the great cafés, places of intellectual and artistic freedom, where one can imagine Salvador Dalí, Luis Buñuel and Federico García Lorca sitting at tables. The cuisine of chef Adam Bentalha, who was born in Constantine and has worked in some of the world's top establishments (Ritz Paris, La Bauhinia at the Shangri-la, Royal Monceau, Prince de Galles) revolves around the Mediterranean and the Orient.
Filled with sunshine, dishes oscillate between typical Spanish dishes and Brach Paris signature dishes. A Sunday brunch, a cocktail bar with large bottles encircled by woven straw and a patisserie with flan, Saint-Honoré and chocolate éclair will have travelers salivating. A private dining room is also available for more intimate dinners.

The rooms? The 53 keys, dressed in romantic pottery and basketwork, are divided into three categories, ranging from the 25 m2 Superior to the 30 m2 Deluxe to the 40 m2 Executive. On the 5th and 6th floors, four suites with terraces complete the offer: the Armando (53 m2), the Ernesto (68 m2) and the Antonio (73 m2), in a harmonious and inspiring decor of wood, leather and glazed earth.

The spa offer? An intimate sanctuary where a cameo of whites enhanced by gold cuts through the hustle and bustle of the city, the spa, named La Capsule, offers a totally new holistic experience. A unique space dedicated to the care of body, face and spirit, where well-being and longevity, tradition and scientific innovation come together for a tenfold wellness experience. Inspired by biohacking, massages combine energetic rituals, hypnosis and cutting-edge technologies. Acupuncture, hyperbaric oxygenation chambers, ice baths, infrared saunas, floatation in sensory isolation... everything invites deep regeneration.

Products from the myBlend and Clarins beauty brands bring their sensoriality to these moments of relaxation, delicately energized by the practice of yoga and fitness in dedicated areas. Open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., the 400 m2 spa also features a 20-metre swimming pool to punctuate this holistic quest. Three wellness packages are on offer: Capsule Explore, an initial immersion with personalized consultation, infrared sauna session, 60-minute body massage of your choice and wellness drink; Capsule Recover, a two-half-day program including personalized consultation, infrared sauna, Recover Body Detox, 60-minute massage and wellness drink. Finally, Capsule Reboost, a complete program including Mind Coaching, Remise en forme and Well Ageing, to rebalance body and mind. A full-service jewel of a hotel, the Brach Madrid draws on its rich heritage to offer modern luxury stays that look to the future, earning it worldwide certification for sustainable development in the tourism sector.

What to remember? Right in the heart of the city, Brach Madrid caters to all tastes: romantic getaways, family vacations... The place plays on contrasts with disconcerting elegance: the terracotta of the lobby creates a warm presence, while the immaculate whites of La Capsule bring an almost ethereal clarity. These polarities, far from opposing each other, form the Brach signature and the immediate feeling of being at home in a new address. But it's Philippe Starck who says it best: " Entering Brach Madrid is like entering an inhabited place. Never in the history of the hotel industry has there been a place with such precise poetry. So you come back to the Brach Madrid because everywhere, the place shows affection."

2. Casa de las Artes, the new cultural refuge in Barrio de las Letras
Casa de las Artes, a member of the Meliá Collection, opened its doors last year in the Barrio de las Letras, a literary district that was home to some of the greatest writers of the 17th-century. Nothing could be more logical for a 4-star hotel celebrating the seven arts - from painting to cinema, dance, literature and architecture - and offering a rich cultural program every month. Four buildings dating from the 1930s, once private residences, have been brought together to form a design hotel now sublimated under the name Casa de las Artes. Some period features have been preserved, such as a staircase and the restaurant's stained-glass windows by Mauméjean, who also designed those for Almudena Cathedral. The hotel's interior design and decoration were created by architect Álvaro Sans and interior designer Adriana Sans of the ASAH studio, in collaboration with Meliá Hotels International. They drew their inspiration from Miguel de Cervantes, an emblematic figure of modern literature, to transform each space into a veritable field of artistic expression.
The walls, dressed in a rosy red inspired by the Louvre and Thyssen-Bornemisza museums, host works by Salvador Dalí in a charming lobby. After the glassed-in thermal pool, hammam and sauna - the massage offer is still under development - you come to a twenty-seat cinema, then to a library with antique white and gold columns housing a variety of books, chess sets and objets d'art, bathed in an atmosphere of classical music. The dance studio, located in the 24-hour fitness center, features original slippers by dancer María del Carmen Perez. The 137 rooms, including several suites, ranging in size from 16 to 62 m2, are adorned with Gustave Doré lithographs, ochre and brown tones and discreet, modern woodwork. The sublime Maché restaurant is the vibrant heart of the hotel, perfect for cocktails in a hushed, elegant atmosphere.

3. The Palace, A Luxury Collection Hotel
Just a stone's throw from the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum, The Palace, A Luxury Collection Hotel, has ruled the capital since 1912. Built at the instigation of Alfonso XIII, great-grandfather of King Felipe VI, this Unesco-listed palace was, at its inauguration, the largest and most modern in Europe. Completely restored by Estudio Ruiz-Larrea Arquitectura in 2025, this hotel treasure promises a stay where hospitality rhymes with modern luxury and precious materials enhanced by Belle Époque references. Its glass dome, a 1912 masterpiece designed by Eduardo Ferrés i Puig and created by Mauméjean master glassmakers, has been restored to its former glory. It now boasts a majestic palm tree chandelier. While the hotel opened with 800 rooms, only 470 are now on offer, each equipped with the latest technology without sacrificing any of its historic heritage. Herringbone parquet flooring, toad armchairs with plant motifs, sepia landscapes in the heart of the moldings... The elegance of all the keys reaches its paroxysm in the 168 m2 Suite Royale.

The restaurant-bar La Cúpula, where the famous dome is located, is orchestrated by chef Nuno Matos, who offers gastronomic and emblematic Spanish dishes, including the Waldorf salad revisited, inspired by Pablo Picasso, and Julio Camba's famous steak tartare. The evening continues at 27 Club, a key meeting place for mixology enthusiasts. On Sundays, brunches are punctuated by live opera performances in an exceptional setting. To relax, head for the treatment and massage area, not far from the fitness center, again in a princely atmosphere worthy of a palace.

4. Hotel Unico
In the heart of the Milla d'Or, Madrid's 5-star Hotel Único takes up residence in a 19th-century palace transformed into an elegant retreat with 44 rooms and suites ranging in size from 25 to 56 m2. Light wood, touches of gold and marble bathrooms give the keys a warm, uncluttered elegance, with views over the garden or Claudio Coello Street. The hidden garden is home to El Patio de Claudio, a Spanish bistro with a seasonal menu by Mario Vallés, which can be enjoyed in the contemporary interior dining room or in the intimate eight-person Atelier.

On the first floor, the English-style bar, where leather, velvet and wood meet, protects the confidences of its regulars. Mixology workshops are offered here. The library, with its graphic boxes integrated into a rough wooden wall, invites you to let your thoughts wander. The Wellness Suite offers treatments and massages using Natura Bissé and Comfort Zone products, while the gym is equipped with the latest Technogym machines.

5. Four Seasons Hotel, luxury hotel in Madrid
The innovative Centro Canalejas district is home to the Four Seasons Madrid, a hotel combining no less than 7 historic buildings. True to the spirit of the brand, the hotel boasts a spectacular asset: a 1,500 m2 spa. There are 200 guest rooms, all in the sophisticated Four Seasons style. Special mention must be made of the 400 m2 Royal Suite: gilded crystal chandeliers, princely lounges, a fitness area and a fully equipped kitchen make up a finely crafted marble and stone decor.

The refinement of the Four Seasons extends to its tables: the Dani brasserie, open to the city and featuring Spanish and international cuisine; Isa, a vibrant Asian address; or El Patio, the lobby bar where you can enjoy pastries and carefully prepared snacks. The highlight is the spectacular view from the roof terrace overlooking Madrid.
