In Paris, our favorite hotels near the Louvre

For a stay in Paris, nothing beats a hotel right in the center. We’ve selected hotels that have the immense advantage of being just a stone’s throw from the Louvre and its collections. Italian painting, Islamic art and Etruscan pottery are all yours.

Maison Albar Le Pont Neuf

Just a stone's throw from the Louvre, this boutique hotel opposite the Samaritaine and close to the Bourse de Commerce, ticks all the boxes for a successful Parisian stay. The Centaurus group, owner of Maison Albar, was founded in 1923 by Odette and René Albar, a couple of restaurateurs from the Aveyron region of France. This five-star hotel, housed in a Haussmann-style building that used to be the headquarters of the Céline fashion house, was designed by Alexandre Danan and Atelier COS Architecture, and features curved lines, natural materials (wood and stone) and a play of curtains, in a nod to the Pont Neuf, which was wrapped by Christo in 1985. The hotel boasts 60 rooms and suites ranging from 23 to 33m2, with contemporary decor featuring beige, old rose and blue, velvet, leather, wood, brass and marble in the bathrooms, sprinkled with a hint of Art Deco.

The best? The rooftop suite perched at the top of the building: thanks to its bay windows, it offers a 180° view of the capital, with the Centre Pompidou in majesty.

The restaurant Odette, a Michelin label, named in honour of the group's founder, Odette Albar, grandmother of Céline Falco, the current owner, is an "Auberge Urbaine", with a bistro-style menu by Maison Rostang, Caroline and Sophie Rostang being the 6th generation of restaurateurs - a fine track record! Together with chef Rémi Hénaux, who has worked in the Parisian gourmet restaurants Ledoyen and La Grande Cascade, they have created a menu where gourmet delights come in light variations and generous dishes to be shared with "homemade" and local produce.

Finally, after a day strolling through the galleries of the Louvre (don't miss the immense sculpture Cour Marly and Puget), relax at the Pont Neuf by Cinq Mondes spa, which includes 3 cabins (one of which is double), a pool bathed in light, a Jacuzzi, a hammam, a sensory shower and the indispensable fitness area.

Château Voltaire, a hotel 600 m from the Louvre

Thierry Gillier, founder of Zadig & Voltaire brand, has created a 5-star hotel in place of his offices, close to the Louvre, between the Tuileries and the Opera. The famous Festen duo, Charlotte de Tonnac and Hugo Sauzay, are in charge of the interior design, accompanied by artistic director Franck Durand. Created from the merger of three 17th and 18th-century buildings, the Hôtel de Paris Centre boasts 32 different rooms.

The best? The 40m2 walk-through apartment, under the roofs, extended by a terrace planted by Louis Benech and offering a lovely view thanks to its glass roof.

We love Émil, the brasserie-style restaurant with its banquettes, white tablecloths and Mediterranean-style menu. The bar, La Coquille d'Or, named after the 16th-century motif that adorns its door to the street, is a real gem. It boasts a very cosy look: black lacquered walls and ceiling, illuminated by 4 gold shells, thick carpeting, deep banquettes... Here you can sip signature cocktails such as Le Voltaire and the Madame Claude, garnished with shell-shaped ice cubes, to the sound of a jazzy playlist. The underground design spa with sauna and hyper-graphic swimming pool is well worth a visit.

Grand Hôtel du Palais Royal, 100 m from the Louvre

Boasting an exceptional location, opposite the Palais Royal gardens, a stone's throw from the Louvre museum, on the Place de Valois where the Savoir agency from Emily in Paris is located, this five-star hotel has the rare advantage of offering impressive peace and quiet right in the heart of Paris. Behind its listed facade, the lobby is full of surprises: busts of Diderot and Lully welcome visitors, and a huge old-fashioned trunk at the foot of the stairs houses the luggage room! The decor, by Pierre-Yves Rochon, features light tones and lime green, echoing the garden of the Palais Royal, in the 59 rooms and suites.

The best? The 55m2 Eiffel Tower duplex Suite, with a view of the Sacré-Coeur, the Palais Royal, the Eiffel Tower... You have the rare privilege in Paris of sleeping with the window open, lulled by birdsong!

The Café 52 restaurant, run by chef Maxime Raab and boasting a terrace overlooking the Place de Valois, offers a healthy menu all day long, and a Holidermie-stamped spa with two treatment rooms, a hammam, a hairdressing salon and a gym completes the offering at this quintessentially elegant hotel

Hôtel du Louvre, The Unbound Collection, hotel opposite the Louvre

Designed by Napoleon III in 1855 for the Exposition Universelle, this 5-star hotel, a member of the exclusive Unbound Collection by Hyatt, enjoys an exceptional location just a stone's throw from the Louvre and the gardens of the Palais-Royal. The 64 spacious, light-filled rooms, including 57 suites, are classically decorated in the style of a Parisian apartment.

The best? A Palais Royal Suite (50m2) with a bedroom and living room overlooking the Louvre Museum.

In terms of dining, we were impressed by the first Bocuse brasserie in Paris, where you can enjoy Lyonnaise and French cuisine executed with mastery, and l'Officine, the bar dominated by a period glass roof and drowned in a profusion of green plants in a nod to Napoleon III's passion for botany. L'Atelier de l'Hôtel du Louvre by CODAGE, a mezzanine treatment room, brings the ultimate touch of refinement to this hotel facing the Louvre, steeped in history.

Le Burgundy, hotel 1 km from the Louvre

This establishment opened its doors in 1850! Since then, it has undergone many changes. Vincent Bastie was entrusted with the renovation in 2010. The result is a 5-star hotel with the look of an elegant Parisian home, housing 41 rooms (ranging in size from 26 to 32m2), including 10 Junior Suites (37m2) and 8 Suites Signatures.

The best? The Madeleine and Malesherbes suites, completely revisited by interior designer Patrick Juliot and designed as duplexes on the 5th floor.

Various works of art line the common areas of this hotel near the Louvre, such as the sculptures by Guy de Rougemont in the lobby and the monumental fresco by Marco Del Re on the ceiling of the Charles bar, named after the poet Baudelaire, where guests gather from breakfast to cocktail hour. As for Le Baudelaire restaurant, which boasts 1 Michelin star, chef Anthony Denon concocts inventive, contemporary cuisine. The spa features 3 treatment rooms, including one for two, a 15 m pool, sauna, hammam and fitness room, and is the perfect place to indulge in a Sothys treatment.
