Luxury, charm and sea views, Brittany’s most beautiful hotels
From Dinard to Saint-Malo, via Belle-Île-en-Mer, the Breton peninsula and the islands that dot its coastline abound in 4 and 5-star hotel nuggets. For an iodized escape lulled by the sea spray, discover our selection of the best and most beautiful hotels in Brittany.

1. Domaine de la Bretesche, inland
Set in over 200 hectares of wooded grounds with a 15th-century castle as a backdrop, this 5-star hotel, a member of Relais & Châteaux, combines historic charm with contemporary luxury. Located on the edge of the centuries-old forests of the Brière Regional Nature Park, the estate seems designed for a complete break, where you can leave behind the salty air of the coast and draw on the tranquil energy of the Breton countryside. Another, more intimate Brittany is revealed here—one of mossy undergrowth, misty mornings, and deep breaths.

Echoing this, the Spa de la Cour Carrée (400 m²) is made entirely from natural materials—stone, slate, pebbles, and cherry wood—and bathed in natural light from an elegant glass roof. Treatments by Cinq Mondes and Omnisens prolong the regenerating effect of forest walks (bicycles loaned by the hotel), running sessions in the countryside, or swimming in one of the two large heated pools (outdoor pool accessible from May to September). People come here to slow down, breathe, relax, and be lulled by the silence and the birdsong.
The 25 rooms and 6 suites, located in the former outbuildings of the château, and nine villas converted from the old sheepfold (ranging from 40 to 60 m², ideal for families), each offer a unique atmosphere. Among them, the Junior Suites (33 to 55 m²) are particularly appealing to those who love peace and quiet and green surroundings. They open onto an unobstructed view of the lake, letting in light and the woody scents of the countryside surrounding the hotel. This is the spirit of the Domaine de la Bretesche: a hushed elegance, intimately linked to the land.

When it comes to dining, the gourmet restaurant Le Montaigu also celebrates Breton cuisine with generous dishes created by Filipe Silvestre (who has worked at several Michelin-starred restaurants, including La Bastide de Saint-Antoine in Grasse, Les Pêcheurs in Cap d'Antibes, and La Table de l'Ermitage in Mont-Saint-Michel). Opening onto the grounds, Le Montaigu's terrace welcomes guests on sunny days, while when the weather turns chilly, they can find comfort by the restaurant's fireplace. The more relaxed Club brasserie offers a friendly atmosphere overlooking the hotel's 18-hole golf course. Finally, the Bar des Écuries offers a unique experience: here you can enjoy a selection of cocktails, whiskeys, digestifs, and various drinks in comfortable alcoves... nestled in the former horse stalls! We love it.

2. Les Bassans, Perros-Guirec | The poetry of the Breton coastline according to Fontenille
A new, discreet address facing the sea, Les Bassans is the first Breton hotel in the Fontenille Collection, known for its characterful properties in the Luberon, the Balearic Islands, and Tuscany. Located in Perros-Guirec, this 25-room boutique hotel is housed in an early 20th-century manor house with sea views, completely redesigned to offer a peaceful retreat that is both stylish and deeply Breton.

The original architecture has been preserved, right down to the bow windows and half-timbering, while the interiors are inspired by the marine world and Art Deco ocean liners. Light wood paneling, contrasting mosaics, woven seating, and contemporary furniture create a cozy atmosphere with a view of the sea. Each room opens onto the sea, with the changing lights of the Pink Granite Coast on the horizon.

The restaurant, bathed in light, showcases seafood and local Breton produce with precise and inventive cuisine: abalone, fish en croûte, roasted lobster, as well as galette with andouille sausage and chocolate-seaweed mousse. The bar offers a menu of cocktails made with Breton spirits, served in a warm atmosphere. The spa, with its natural Alaena treatments, glass-fronted sauna facing the ocean, and hammam, also offers cutting-edge Nooānce LED technology and marine collagen drinks. A short walk away, the coastal path leads to Ploumanac'h, while the luxury hotel in Brittany organizes picnics at the foot of the lighthouse, sea trips, paddleboarding, and guided hikes.

3. Castel Clara | Belle-Île-en-Mer, Morbihan | Hotel in South Brittany
The pitch? At the dawn of the 1960s, when Paul Meunier and his wife settled in Brittany, Belle-Île did not yet enjoy the prestige it does today. But Paul Meunier was a visionary, with the ambition of bringing the island's splendors to light. After two initial hotels in Brittany, on Île au Palais and Sauzon, in 1973 he inaugurated Castel Clara, a hotel complex set majestically on Goulphar Bay facing the ocean. In the early 1990s, the entrepreneur sensed the renewed interest of the French in spa treatments. In no time at all, he fitted out his hotel ship with a thalasso center, still one of the most popular in Brittany today. In 2021, the Castel Clara passed into the hands of the Paris Inn Group, and continues to establish itself as one of the finest luxury hotels in Belleville and one of the most beautiful hotels on the seafront.

What's this hotel of Brittany like? Nestled in the lush vegetation of the island's wild coastline, the hotel is free of the superfluous in favor of a relaxed elegance, typical of the style of Brittany's seaside resorts. As if weightless above the ocean, the two long white buildings that make up the complex seem to wisely watch over the bay, and announce the peaceful atmosphere that reigns within the hotel. Bathed in light thanks to imposing bay windows, the 63 rooms and suites boast a harmonious decor, where classic furnishings, soft colors and natural materials reflect a simple yet refined seaside spirit. It's a theme that runs throughout the establishment, as if to remind guests that the real show is outside, in the spectacle of the ocean and Brittany that make the hotel so romantic.

The culinary offer? While Castel Clara's two restaurants naturally feature local produce, each has its own identity. Café Clara, for example, is a convivial affair, with a gargantuan seafood buffet and cleverly revisited bistro cuisine. Le 180°, the Relais & Châteaux gastro restaurant, is the starting point for a veritable gustatory voyage between land and sea. With a passion for nature, the Chef displays on his menu a condensed selection of the region's finest produce, from the treasures of inshore fishing to the meats of the Breton moors, not to mention the mature cheeses from nearby farms. From lobster medallions or roasted in chorizo oil, to snacked Saint-Pierre flanked by local asparagus, to sweetbreads lacquered with exotic flavors, Franck Moisan's plates make 180° one of the island's finest restaurants.

What makes the difference? The Castel Clara's relaxation offer, entirely focused on the benefits of the sea. A well-being hotel par excellence, the Cespa in Brittany boasts a host of haute couture facilities (with a special mention for its seawater pool equipped with a counter-current swimming system), the hotel also offers a complete program of targeted thalasso cures, designed to boost your tone, figure and body, and your morale to boot.

4. Le Grand Hôtel Dinard | Legend of the Emerald Coast
A veritable institution on the Emerald Coast since 1858, Le Grand Hôtel Dinard is a symbol of the seaside resort's golden age, located right on the waterfront and facing the sea spray. Offering breathtaking views of Saint-Malo and ideally located just a five-minute walk from the beaches and casino, this iconic hotel was taken over by the Barrière group in the early 2000s. In 2018, it underwent a complete renovation, breathing new life into the property. As Dinard's premier luxury hotel, Le Grand Hôtel has welcomed many big names from the international jet set and continues to host movie stars during the British Film Festival every September, who are charmed by its Diane Barrière Spa, its gourmet restaurant, and the many activities available for both adults and their children, who are pampered at the kids club.

The establishment, with its granite walls adorned with white stone, was designed by interior designer Alexandre Danan, who skillfully combined Belle Époque elegance with a resolutely contemporary spirit. The new decor in light tones magnifies the light of the Emerald Coast and bathes the seaside hotel in a soothing atmosphere. The aristocratic heritage of Dinard, once called the “Breton Brighton” by the English nobility, is evident from the moment you step into the lobby, with its refined moldings and period elevator. The 82 rooms and 4 suites, punctuated with Second Empire touches, offer spectacular views of the sea or gardens, and some rooms have private balconies facing the Bay of La Vicomté.
At the George V restaurant, chef Wilfried Lacaille has created a refined menu that celebrates the treasures of the land and sea: pan-fried squid, red tuna tartare, and a remarkable Kouign Amann are served in a bright dining room with large bay windows overlooking the Atlantic. The view of the bay and the ramparts of Saint-Malo is particularly enchanting at sunset, creating a magical atmosphere for dinner. At the 333 Café piano bar, guests can enjoy English tea, signature cocktails, and other refreshments from 11 a.m. to midnight.
During the day, visitors can explore the area on electric bikes, take a dip in the superb indoor pool—maintained at a temperature of 29°C—or pamper themselves at the new Shiseido Ginza Tokyo Spa, which offers high-end body and facial treatments based on the ancient Japanese art of rebalancing your “Qi”. The vast wellness area also includes a sauna and steam room, which parents can enjoy in peace while their children are entertained at the Studio by Petit VIP, for ages 4 and up.

5. Le Nessay | Saint-Briac, Ille-et-Vilaine | Hotel in North Brittany
Far from the hustle and bustle of the seaside resorts on the Brittany coast, the Saint-Briac peninsula is a haven of peace, calm and pleasure. A treasure of which insiders cultivate the secret, and which Le Nessay brilliantly embodies. In this late 19th-century castle, built around the turquoise waters of the bay, time seems to stand still, allowing visitors to enjoy the serenity of the surroundings. The atmosphere created by interior designer Stéphanie Cayet is warm and intimate in the 17 rooms housed in the building, its posterns and its annex. A particular favorite is the Emerald suite, with its free-standing bathtub and round bed nestled in the turret, whose eclectic decor evokes the spirit of a vacation home. And for travelers in search of privacy, Le Nessay recently inaugurated its "house", located 2 km from the center, where you can privatize the 5 bedrooms and the heated swimming pool... 17 meters long!
What makes the difference? The restaurant, where you'll discover a fine "cuisine d'auteur" and where vegetarian options count for nothing.

Comprising 54 rooms and 2 junior suites, the hotel is housed in former townhouses and boasts a bar and gourmet restaurant run by chef Benjamin Jourdren. In the rooms, with their soft, warm ambience, guests are invited to enjoy a singular experience, and will find courtesy products from the Nuxe brand in the bathroom, echoing the Nuxe spa on the lower level, equipped with 4 treatment cabins, an aquatic sensory trail, a hammam and a sauna.

The only 5-star hotel on the Pink Granite Coast, L'Agapa has just been given a new lease of life, following a complete renovation by Brioche-based architects BAAU. The decor, faithful to its black-and-white code inspired by the Printania of the 30s, remains refined and designer. This hotel in Brittany has also preserved its Art Deco elegance and its exceptional setting in the Côtes d'Armor, where granite cliffs and beaches stretch for 15 kilometers.

This 5-star hotel is a perfect blend of modernity and Breton tradition. Its 45 rooms, mainly facing the sea, are divided between three buildings, including the Villa Éden Roc, distinguished by its intimate atmosphere and typically Breton decor. New features include a bar and terrace to cater for guests who want to sip a cocktail under the sun and sea spray. Le Bélouga restaurant, under the direction of chef Steve Carda, offers a privileged gastronomic experience with a breathtaking view of the beach and the 7-Îles, where guests can savour refined cuisine featuring products from the ocean.

The spa, a 400 m² oasis of relaxation now associated with the French brand Codage, offers an exceptional setting for relaxation, with an indoor pool, hammam, sauna and nine treatment rooms. L'Agapa combines Breton tradition and innovation, promising a refined, arty Breton experience.

8. Domaine de Rochevilaine | Billiers, Morbihan | Southern Brittany
Long overlooked by tourists visiting the Brittany coast, Pointe de Pen Lan owes its fame to industrialist Henri Dresch, a lover of the region and enthusiast for old buildings. Over nearly 25 years, he transformed this small stretch of wild coastline into a 4-star hotel complex, now run by Bertand Jacquet and certified by Relais & Châteaux. Among the charming features of this address are its exceptional location, lulled by the sea spray, its haute couture balneotherapy center, and its Michelin-starred cuisine. Orchestrated by Maxime Nouail, the latter delights purists who love the taste of the sea, which the chef celebrates with virtuosity, without detours or superfluous frills.
What makes the difference? The feeling of being alone in the world, in communion with the elements, from the terrace of the establishment.

9. Les Maisons de Bricourt | Cancale Region | Ille-et-Vilaine
For almost thirty years, Olivier Roellinger and his wife Jane have been scouring the Cancale region, looking for treasures to share their vision of the art of living and hospitality. While the story began in the Maison du Voyageur, later home to the three-Michelin-starred Bricourt restaurant, it continued at Château Richeux, a breathtaking 1920s villa perched on the Roches Noires and transformed into a hotel. Then, a few years later, the hotel Les Rimains, a charming haven of peace with English cottage accents, whose garden is home to "marine cottages" inspired by the spirit of seaside cabins. The latest project is the Ferme du Vent, a series of six completely renovated rough-hewn stone buildings, extended by colossal glass roofs, to admire the moon and the sea.
What makes the difference? The restaurant Le Coquillage at Château Richeux, Hugo Roellinger's culinary playground and, for many gourmets, one of the best Michelin-starred restaurants in France.
