How is the hotel?
Built in 1975, the hotel was one of Barcelona’s first 5-star hotels and one of the city’s first skyscrapers. Designated a “distinctive building” , it was also the first Spanish hotel to incorporate an earthquake-resistant system. Overlooking the elegant Pedralbes neighborhood, the Grand Hyatt Barcelona retains its imposing silhouette, though the interior spaces have been thoroughly transformed. The modernist architecture of the 1970s now harmonizes with a contemporary decor inspired by Art Deco, featuring spacious rooms, abundant natural light, works of art, and fine materials.
Above all, the hotel enjoys a prime location in Alta Barcelona, a neighborhood long favored by the Catalan aristocracy as a retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city center. Around Turó Park, founded in 1912, tree-lined avenues, elegant mansions, and gardens reveal a more residential side of Barcelona. Just a few minutes from the hotel are the Pedralbes Monastery, Casa Güell, the Sagrada Família, and the Passeig de Gràcia.
What are the rooms like?
Designed by the Barcelona-based studio MOEM, the 465 rooms—starting at 29 m², including 49 suites and a penthouse—embody the hotel’s Art Deco spirit in a soft, contemporary style. They offer spacious layouts, large floor-to-ceiling windows, and—depending on the category—views of Barcelona, the Collserola hills, or the Mediterranean Sea. Marble bathrooms, walk-in showers, plush bedding, a work area, Smart TVs, and Natura Bissé products combine to create comfort without excessive decoration. More residential in feel, the suites offer even more space with a separate living room, enhanced amenities, and more spectacular panoramic views—culminating in the 119-square-meter Iconic Suite, the perfect setting for wedding preparations.
Restaurants
Cuisine is one of the hotel’s greatest assets, with several restaurants, each with its own distinct character. On the 19th floor, Maymanta is undoubtedly the most spectacular: a bright interior, Latin American influences, a panoramic terrace, and unobstructed views of Barcelona. Peruvian chef Omar Malpartida serves up cuisine inspired by the Andes, the Amazon, and the Pacific, featuring ceviches, marinated fish, corn, chili peppers, and tangy sauces.
More intimate, Leña bears the signature of Michelin-starred chef Dani García. In an almost theatrical atmosphere, flame-grilling is the central theme of the experience: beautiful cuts of grilled meat are served with generous sides in the spirit of a chic steakhouse. Sofia Bar & Tapas serves up Mediterranean tapas, seafood, sharing platters, and signature cocktails. We also love Philosofia, the spot to order specialty coffees, pastries, desserts, salads, and quick lunches. Finally, Zuu will appeal to night owls with its decor inspired by Parisian cabarets and its festive DJ sets.

Developed in partnership with the Spanish brand Natura Bissé, Oasis Wellness & Spa ranks among the most beautiful urban spas in Barcelona.
