Spa hotels in La Baule

1. Hôtel Barrière Le Royal, a spa hotel by the sea in La Baule

What's the spa hotel like? A break in the fresh air, in a setting inspired by the ocean and salt marshes, that's the promise of a stay at the Hôtel Barrière Le Royal in La Baule. With its feet in the water, facing the immense expanse of sandy beach, the hotel and its two indoor and outdoor swimming pools are ideal for an iodized wellness break. Immaculate sculptures and rosettes, mosaics in beige and blue combined with antique furniture and exceptional fabrics, all designed by the talented interior designer Chantal Peyrat. Inspired by Guérande salt crystals, the 87 keys to this La Baule spa hotel are an invitation to relax and unwind, thanks in particular to their view of the ocean and the surrounding villas in La Baule. From the Superior Room to the Royal Suite, all have that little something extra of the Barrière hotels. This attention to detail extends to children, welcomed from 10 weeks to 12 years of age at Club Babiwi and Studio by Petit VIP as guests in their own right for playful workshops on the theme of art.

The spa? A must on any stay in La Baule is the Thalasso at Hôtel Barrière Le Royal. Located on the seaside town's magnificent bay, facing the Atlantic, the spa and thalasso draws its inspiration from its environment to offer treatments with the benefits of the sea and its trace elements. From a sophrology session in front of an aquarium of jellyfish to a floatation pool in the Eaux-Mères de Guérande and an Aqua Pole Dance, everything is centred around invigorating or soothing water. Stays ranging from half a day to 6 days (Escale, Parenthèse and Odyssée) invite you to take a themed wellness break (Fitness, Slimming, Tailor-made Health, Osteo-Kinetics, Fitness, Anti-Aging, etc.). A sensory experience out of time, in a sublime space imagined once again by Chantal Peyrat, where the waves and the sound of the ocean will be your only playmates.

2. Hôtel L'Hermitage La Baule

What's the hotel spa like? A stay at L'Hermitage La Baule is an interlude between modernity and authenticity. Founded in 1926 by François André, who didn't hesitate to co-finance the London-Deauville-La Baule air link from 1937 onwards to bring the celebrities of the day (Winston Churchill, the Aga Khan, Sacha Guitry, Maurice Chevalier) to his hotel, it was renovated in 2016. The turn-of-the-century seaside spirit reigns, from its dreamy, toes-in-the-sand location, and unfurls its sober, clean-lined furnishings mixed with gilding, marble and tassel chandeliers, giving this historic building a certain anachronistic comfort. Just like in the good old days, you can enjoy a game of tennis on the green, a game of roulette in the casino or an elegant bicycle ride along the promenade.

La Baule's 5-star hotel cultivates a seaside family vacation atmosphere, and succeeds in equipping its 200 keys with large windows overlooking the ocean and hinterland. Between the white of the sand and the blue of the waves, all are filled with elegant fabrics and furnishings, for a hushed ambience that only Barrière hotels have the secret to. The splendor of yesteryear has been rediscovered, and from the Superior Room to the Residential Suite, the demands of a perfect stay remain the same.

In a sumptuous Art Deco setting, Le Pavillon offers a menu inspired by the local produce of La Baule, as well as a host of flavours from elsewhere, all based around wood-fired cuisine (grilled meats, roasted langoustines, prime rib, etc.), while the seafront restaurant Ciro's offers a chic, relaxed atmosphere for a meal that's just as chic.
