Hotels Near Paris: 10 Places to Get Away for the Weekend

Getting away is great. Being somewhere else in the blink of an eye is even better! From Neuilly to Barbizon, from Chantilly to Versailles, here are ten spots to escape to a hidden garden, a dense forest, or within the walls of an abbey—without a plane ticket or having to sacrifice your Friday afternoon in traffic.

1. La Folie Barbizon | An arty getaway on the edge of the Fontainebleau Forest

Where? In Barbizon, in the Seine-et-Marne department, about an hour from Paris and a two-minute walk from the Fontainebleau Forest.

The hotel. Halfway between a country hotel, an artists’ residence, and a guesthouse, La Folie Barbizon playfully breaks with the conventions of a 4-star hotel—which makes perfect sense, after all, in this village so inextricably linked to the history of landscape painters! Conceived by Nicolas Saltiel and Lionel Bensemoun, the property features 21 rooms and suites—each one unique—and more than 50 works of art created on-site by some twenty artists. From antique or hand-carved furniture to ceramics, murals, tapestries, neon paintings, and installations, art spills over the walls and into the garden, while the restaurant focuses on plant-based and locally sourced cuisine.

Why is it a great getaway? Because it offers as much greenery as it does creative energy—perfect for a nature-filled weekend. The place is lively, joyful, and full of details to discover… And there’s no shortage of activities! You can hike among the rocks of Fontainebleau, then return for a game of pétanque, a dinner at the long table, or one of the concerts, pottery workshops, botanical walks, and other events that punctuate the program. And the village of Barbizon provides an excellent excuse to extend your trip.

Our favorite detail: The stained-glass windows separating some rooms from their bathrooms, made from… eggplant peels! And the celestial ceiling, painted by Andrey Zouari in the Suite aux Étoiles. This weekend just outside Paris looks set to be a wonderful one.

2. Domaine de la Reine Margot | Life in a castle just a few subway stops away

Where? In Issy-les-Moulineaux, just southwest of Paris and at the end of Line 12.

The hotel and the setting. This former estate, where Marguerite de Valois found refuge in the early 17th century, is now home to one of the most unexpected luxury hotels in the Île-de-France region—an MGallery designed in collaboration with Wilmotte & Associés: 83 rooms and suites, a spacious garden, a vegetable garden, a spa, and even a former chapel… transformed into a speakeasy bar.

Why is it a great getaway? For the contrast. You arrive by metro, and just a few minutes later, you’re watching the herbs grow in the vegetable garden, admiring the Gothic vaults of the deconsecrated chapel, and having lunch on a bucolic terrace framed by a view of the Eiffel Tower in the distance… To top off the getaway, head to Le Refuge de Margot, which features a hammam, sauna, and pool—everything you need for a relaxing weekend without even having to get in the car.

3. Le 5 Particulier | A Hidden Country House in Neuilly

Where? In Neuilly-sur-Seine, between the Bois de Boulogne, the Louis Vuitton Foundation, and Porte Maillot.

The hotel and its setting. Just a few steps from Avenue Charles-de-Gaulle, on a quiet street, step inside this 19th-century mansion and Neuilly suddenly takes on the feel of a vacation destination. Renovated in 2021, this boutique hotel—part of the Iéna Hospitality collection—features just 29 rooms and, most notably, a private garden spanning over 100 m² designed by landscape architect Christophe Gautrand.

Why is it a great place to get away? Because you’ve hardly left the city! Just a few minutes from Place de l’Étoile, you can sleep peacefully on the garden side, enjoy breakfast outdoors when the weather permits, and follow it up with lunch under the charming umbrellas at Casetta, the hotel’s Italian restaurant. A perfectly balanced mini-getaway, and one of our favorite boutique hotels near Paris when your schedule allows for just one night away.

4. Domaine des Vanneaux | A breath of green in the Oise Valley

Where? In Presles, in the Val-d’Oise, in the heart of the L’Isle-Adam golf course and about 45 minutes from Paris.

The hotel and its setting. Overlooking the 18-hole L’Isle-Adam golf course, the Domaine des Vanneaux occupies the site of a former farm, reimagined by Jean-Michel Wilmotte as a small contemporary hamlet, featuring abundant wood, stone, and clean lines. Everywhere, large floor-to-ceiling windows bring the greenery into the setting—the 67 rooms and suites also feature a terrace opening onto the forest, the golf course, or the courtyard. Life at the estate changes with the seasons: swimming and relaxing outdoors on sunny days; fireplaces crackling in the lobby and long hours at the spa when temperatures drop… When it comes to dining, Le Piaf draws from the estate’s 300-square-meter vegetable garden (and locally produced honey), but Chef Paul Thévenin doesn’t limit himself to the Val-d’Oise region: he readily incorporates Asian spices, seasonings, and influences into his locally sourced and inspired cuisine.

Why is it a great getaway? To reconnect with open space… without being more than an hour away from Paris. Even without stepping onto a golf course, you can enjoy the trails, bikes, the pool on sunny days, and the lush green landscape. Those who need to get active can also try archery or a golf lesson. And then there’s the 250-square-meter spa, which features a hot tub by the fireplace, a sauna, a steam room, and four treatment rooms. But when it comes to relaxation, the sweeping views, tranquility, and lush greenery already do most of the work.

5. Les Étangs de Corot | A Vacation in Ville-d’Avray

Where? In Ville-d’Avray, in the Hauts-de-Seine department, about 15 minutes from Paris and five minutes from Versailles.

The hotel and the setting. A former 19th-century open-air café, two tree-lined ponds, and the legacy of painter Jean-Baptiste Camille Corot, who used to set up his easel in the area. Redesigned by architect Christophe Bachmann, Les Étangs de Corot has the feel of a chic and slightly nostalgic little hamlet, with 42 rooms and suites where shades of green, blue, and ochre blend with frescoes and wallpaper by Pierre Frey or Ananbô. But the hotel is just as renowned for its dining: at the Michelin-starred restaurant Le Corot, Rémi Chambard explores the flavors of the Île-de-France region—from button mushrooms to Meaux mustard—in collaboration with producers from the Yvelines and Seine-et-Marne departments. On sunny days, guests can dine on the terrace at the Café des Artistes or head over to Les Paillotes, a historic open-air café nestled along the waterfront, for a drink and a few dishes to share.

Why is it a great getaway? Because it takes just twenty short minutes by train to swap the asphalt for water and greenery. People come to this luxury spa hotel to enjoy a leisurely lunch, stroll around the ponds, and then spend a few hours at Les Bains de Corot, the hotel’s spa featuring eight treatment rooms.

6. Le Doyenné | Farm Stay

Where? In Saint-Vrain, in the Essonne department, about 45 minutes from Paris.

The hotel and the setting. A farm practicing regenerative agriculture, a gourmet restaurant, and an 11-room guesthouse near Paris—the project conceived by Australians James Henry and Shaun Kelly has taken root on a historic estate in Saint-Vrain. Outside, greenhouses, an orchard, and fields provide most of the seasonal fruits, vegetables, and herbs that make their way into the chef’s kitchen; a few pigs are also raised on-site. Inside, the immense barn, crowned with its original timber frame, houses the restaurant—now renowned far beyond the Essonne region and ranked 77th on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list in 2025. In the guest rooms: wood, vintage finds, pottery, freshly picked bouquets, and windows opening onto the courtyard cultivate the cozy atmosphere of a beautiful country home.

Why is it the perfect getaway? Because your stay follows its own rhythm: observing what’s growing, dining on produce harvested just a few meters away, then sleeping on-site and treating yourself to a true break (instead of heading back to Paris with a sense of unfinished business). A gourmet getaway in an authentic, bountiful countryside… And yet not so far away!

Our favorite detail: The tennis court whose fences have been taken over by pumpkins. Here, you can’t escape the produce!

7. Abbaye de Royaumont | A Night in the 13th Century

Where? In Asnières-sur-Oise, in the Val-d’Oise department, about 30 kilometers north of Paris.

The hotel and the site. Founded in the 13th century by Saint Louis, Abbaye de Royaumont is not a “traditional” hotel. First and foremost a historic monument and cultural foundation, this former Cistercian abbey also welcomes visitors who wish to spend the night there on weekends, with 53 rooms located in the former monks’ quarters and furnished without pretension. Their windows overlook the cloister, the gardens, or the estate’s canals. The next morning, a hearty all-you-can-eat brunch is served in a Gothic-style vaulted room. Guests can also gather in the residents’ lounge to sip a cocktail or enjoy a few appetizers while playing pool or board games.

Why is it a great getaway? For the privilege of enjoying a historic site once the visitors have left! The grounds remain open to guests until midnight: after dinner, you can explore the cloister, the gardens, and the estate’s seven hectares in complete tranquility. You might also stumble upon a concert, go for a walk in the nearby Chantilly Forest, or, quite simply, let yourself be swept away by the magic of the place and do little else but admire it.

8. Loire Valley Lodges | Get a Bird's-Eye View of Touraine

Where? In Esvres-sur-Indre, near Tours, less than two hours from Paris.

The hotel and the setting. Among the most beautiful treehouse hotels in France, Loire Valley Lodges features 21 lodges scattered throughout a 300-hectare private forest, perched four meters above the ground, each inspired by the work of a contemporary artist. Facing the bed, large floor-to-ceiling windows frame the trees; on the terrace, each lodge has its own private hot tub, and some even have their own sauna.

Why is it the perfect getaway? Because you enjoy 4-star comfort, deep in the forest and almost weightless, where the rustling of leaves and birdsong replace car horns, ringtones, and other auditory delights of civilization. You can walk or bike through the forest, come across monumental artworks, book a massage in your lodge, and dine at Ardent, where the talented chef—trained in foraging—transforms the forest into a veritable pantry: plants, herbs, and mushrooms foraged on the estate are combined with produce from the vegetable garden and neighboring farmers before being cooked over a wood fire, on hot coals, or smoked.

Our favorite detail: Breakfast hoisted up to the lodge using a pulley.

9. InterContinental Chantilly Château Mont Royal | A Secret Castle in the Forest

Where? In La Chapelle-en-Serval, in the Oise department, in the heart of the Chantilly Forest and about 45 minutes from Paris.

At daybreak, Château Mont Royal emerges from the mist in the heart of the Chantilly Forest © InterContinental Chantilly Château Mont Royal

The hotel and its setting. A long tree-lined driveway leads to a Louis XVI-style château that appears among the trees: built in the early 20th century for composer Fernand Halphen, the Mont Royal now houses a 5-star InterContinental hotel surrounded by the forest. Inside, moldings, wood paneling, and historic spaces blend with a more contemporary design, featuring recently redesigned guest rooms that draw their details from the world of equestrianism and Chantilly lace. Some feature a balcony or terrace, naturally offering plenty of greenery on the horizon.

A fine restaurant, L’Opéra, occupies the former music room beneath grand chandeliers and offers French cuisine led by Chef Léo Chinot. For a drink or a lighter lunch, the Stradivarius is located in the former library, complete with a fireplace and a terrace opening onto the forest. The Biologique Recherche spa, the tennis court, and, of course, the surrounding woods easily round out the rest of the experience.

Why is it a great getaway? Because the forest envelops the property: you can admire it from your room, enjoy views of it from the indoor pool and fitness area, or take it in during lunch… Your stay takes on a green hue, and all you have to do is step outside for a walk under the trees to take in the view! Less than an hour from Paris, the change of pace is refreshing.

Our favorite detail: The Forest Serenity treatment —a walk in the forest followed by a 90-minute massage (solo or for two) in a wooden pavilion overlooking the trees.

10. Airelles Château de Versailles: Le Grand Contrôle | Versailles for Yourself

Where? In Versailles, right inside the palace grounds.

The hotel and its location. Opened in 2021 in a building constructed in 1681 by Jules Hardouin-Mansart alongside the Orangery (and which, starting in 1723, became the residence of the Controller-General of Finances), Le Grand Contrôle is the only hotel located within the very walls of the Palace of Versailles. This sets it apart from other luxury hotels in Versailles! After several years of restoration, Airelles opened just 15 rooms and suites there, recreating the atmosphere of the late 18th century with almost obsessive attention to detail—the interior designers drew in particular on an inventory from 1788, sourcing period furniture and fabrics inspired by the archives of Versailles. Hardwood floors, wall hangings, chandeliers, period furniture and artifacts, and four-poster beds: the decor is opulent, befitting its setting. A dedicated butler for each guest completes this little journey back in time. Even at the table, the atmosphere evokes the Grand Siècle: Alain Ducasse playfully reinterprets the feasts of Louis XIV’s court and the ceremonial traditions of the royal supper. For wellness, however, the present day returns at the Valmont spa, with its indoor pool, hammam, and sauna.

Why is this a great way to get away? Because you’re not just leaving Paris—you’re stepping into a completely different era! The stay is punctuated by experiences reserved exclusively for guests, starting with tours of the Palace outside of public hours. You can explore passages usually off-limits, discover the royal apartments, or step into the Hall of Mirrors when it’s empty of visitors, before taking a stroll around the Petit or Grand Trianon.

Our favorite details: There are so many! First, the 23 staff uniforms, each tailored to the different rooms: they required two years of research, over 100 sketches, some 5,000 buttons, and 120 meters of braid. But also the princely Polish-style beds with their rounded canopies. And then, the quills and inkwells sitting on the desks—a charming little detail that’s far better than a ballpoint pen!
